Hello, I am on assignment in Paris, France and I want to know would I be able to us Slingbox while I am over here. I sold my Condo when I left the states and dont have a cable connection at home, but my mom uses Time Warner Cable or Brighthouse cable in Orlando, Fla. which is where Im from. How could I use Slingbox or do I have to use my mom's cable. I want to be able to watch all the stateside tv stations I use to look at and especially now during football season,

Hey Chuck, hope your email's on.... Did you ever get an answer to your question? I am in Korea and want to do the same thing but can't find much about this. Thanks, Marvin

I just got my slingbox working yesterday. My son in NV set it up for me while I was here in Korea. He has DirecTV/DVR with a Links WRT54G router hard wired in a back bedroom. It worked grate on my laptop and I haven't had time to learn how to tweak the settings yet, but when I hooked it up to my 37" VISIO flat screen it did not do so well. I probably need a better graphics card.

I purchased my slingbox and configured it while in the States. Now I am in the Middle East and it works well. I do have some lag time where my kbps jumps around from 600/700/800 down to 40/60/90. Is this because of my IP here in the Middle East?

I sometimes watch on my laptop, other times I view it through my laptop and project it onto the wall with my projector.

I'm thankful for the viewing I do have, but I didn't know if there is anyway to improve the lag time and the jumping around of my kbps. Any suggestions?

I have 2 Gig internet speed feed.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1520 Core 2 Duo T7500 @ 2.20 Ghz 2 GB of RAM with a 160 gig hd.

I have automated protection against virus, spy, malware, trojans...etc.

So I'm not sure how to improve my internet feed.

Thank you.

hi aztodd, I have a similar situation. I just recently moved to Jordan and was wondering if Slingbox would work over here. I currently have 1 Gig internet speed in my apartment, but i think that 2 Gig is available if i upgrade. how is the signal, can you watch ok?

Upgrading the local speed may not work as the connections between the US or Europe to Asia are the bottleneck. I went from 1MB to 2MB and there is no difference in download speed from north america to qatar.

I am in Abu Dhabi, UAE using a Slingbox HD pro. I have 2MB upload using Time Warner Roadrunner Turb in Austin, TX. Download in Abu Dhabi is 1.8 MB. I get good service (no breakup at the "better" level. Best and HD break up too much to watch.

I am happy with the picture. Do not plan on using the 256 kb minimum. It will not be acceptable for sorts. OK for news etc.

I am pleased with the system. Would be nice if it didn't have the 30 min. time limit before re-starting.
