There is another way which I found out today. The work around is to buy a irtrans infrared transceiver (ethernet version) which you use to program also to send commands via the ethernet cable and internet. The device on the other end you can buy the nokia n800 internet tablet which can be used as a remote control. Go on youtube.com type Irreco User Guide IRTrans for a demonstration. This way is probably going to be a little more expensive but you can probably do more things than controlling your slingbox with the irtrans device.

I'm having trouble getting the remote control to work ever since I downloaded 2.0 to my home PC...and I have a generic Directv HD DVR remote control. It won't work on my main desktop, my home laptop, or on my Slingplayer Mobile. I wish I'd never downloaded 2.0..it seems to have a ton of bugs.

i'm wondering if i buy the slingcatcher can you send the .bin file from the jp1 into the slingcatcher or will it only work for the slingplayer only? Or is the information about the remote codes not downloaded into the slingbox but is sent remotely from the slingplayer? Or are the actual remote codes in the slingbox and accessed from the slingplayer. If it's the case where the remote codes have to be in the slingplayer and are not in the slingbox then the ir trans would be the best solution especially for those who have slingcatcher who want to use the ir trans/nokia n800 as the remote. If the slingbox had the remote codes ie has a copy of the bin file there should not be any problems when upgrading the slingplayer which is what I am hearing.

I have a Slingbox-Pro and would like to control by Daewoo DSD9503-TFP (Freeview player with integrated HDD recorder). I have downloaded the Remote Master Application but am unable to find a suitable upgrade file for my device. If I want to go about creating my own file what are the steps I need to take.

Hi.. I from Portugal, I have a Slingbox Pro but there is no remote codes that work on my Scientific Atlanta KMM3000 TM. Anywhere to start is better than nowhere.

Does anyone know if you can use the .cfg files from Pronto remote, if so all the codes are available at www.remotecentral.com or do they have to be translated some way?
Any help would be greatfully appreciated.

Pronto have a very nice update system and can generate .ccf files that can be used with the tools on the JP1 site to generate the .bin file used by a Slingbox. However, this is not easy, and you will probably need help from the experts on the JP1 forum, but if you want to have a go on your own then you will need the DecodeCCF program, which is available here, and .ccf files can be found here. Note that the Pronto can also make .pcf files, but unfortunately we cannot decode those.

hey i get a error message that says my slinbox pro is not compatible in the U.S.A. (or any other country) what can i do to fix this? i contacted slingmedia and they said my box is defective, and that i need to buy a new one, soon as the warranty is over this happens!! so now i have a box i can't use because i can't set it up, and when sling tried to help they reset it so i can't even get info or watch it like it was, i think the update messed up my slingbox pro!!

If you check the other posts in the forum you will see plenty of examples of this. Last I saw it was being blamed on a hardware defect on some boxes that can fry the box during upgrades. As you found out, Sling will not replace the box if it is not still under warranty, even though it was triggered by their firmware update (I am one of those who suffered from this).
It's an interesting philosophical,although ultimately futile, discussion point as to whether Sling are in the right on this issue as it does seen to be a known design fault. Personally I think they are probably technically correct but morally wrong :-)

When asking for setup help please include whether you are using a PC or Mac and if you are using the Standalone Slingplayer or the web based setup program.

I have heard one person say they uninstalled Slingplayer 2.0. Installed this 1.5 version.

Then updated any firmware that it asked for. After that they uninstalled and then reinstalled 2.0 and it worked.
Care to give that a try?

That depends on what device you have plugged into your Slingbox and whether it is supported or not.

Anyone ever get this to work? I tried placing a bin file in the SBAV directory and I dont' see it listed anywhere? I am using slingplayer 2.5 and the IR blaster version is 5.

No idea, I just rely on the PL file for US boxes and the RV file for non-USA boxes. Although it doesn't actually matter, as if you put both files in the box picks the right one.

May try it when I can put another slingbox at this location. However, when I do, the Technics box I want to work with it is a DAB tuner which is model number ST-GT1000. The remote control used for it is the Technics RAK-STA23WH. However, I have no idea whether this remote can be used on universal remotes. If anyone can help with this, please let me know. Thanks.

It's in the Logitech database so I can build a Custom Remote if you need it.
