Keyspan Remote Control - Controlling Your Computer With a Remote

If you're like me, and want to lay in bed and watch your Slingbox, then you don't want to keep getting up to change the channel or set the volume level.

I would strongly recommend users purchase the URM-17A version - click the shop now, the current price is about 40$ which is relatively cheap!

What It Is

You simply plug in the IR receiver to your laptop/computer USB port, install the drivers and software (which comes on a CD or from the website directly), and you're pretty much ready to go.

The only problem is the Keyspan Remote Control software doesn't support SlingPlayer by default, so you will need to do some tweaking. It really is quite easy to do ; it took me about 5 minutes!!!

As a tip - if your setting up the software and you don't know what key press will press a button on your SlingPlayer, you can hover your mouse over a button on the SlingPlayer remote. It will tell you which button it is assigned to in the hint brackets that will pop-up !

Software I have created to work with Keyspan Remote Control

Unfortunatly, the remote control itself lacks some functionality. For example, there are no number keys, which makes it very hard to go to your favourite channels quickly. As a solution to this problem I have created an application to toggle between favourite channels! All you do is set the executable to the key bindings in your keyspan software, and it will toggle through a list of favourite channels.

Installation instructions are provided in the zip file. You can download the favourite toggle software from here.

Regards,

Andrew
