How To Create Your Own SlingPlayer Remote
Categories: PC Cable / Satellite / DTV Boxes DVD and Other A/V Devices
Does the Slingbox currently not have your remote listed, or is it missing a button or two? Now you can do it yourself, thanks to andyBBB's step-by-step guide to creating your own remote control file for the Slingbox. It will take you through all of the hardware and software you need, as well as through every detail of getting your Slingbox remote to work with whatever IR device you have!

same issue...can't find URC-8910....is there any other remotes that I can use to learn IR codes?
Please let us know...
SlingMedia, why don't you sell a usb learning remote that creates the slingbox file? $50 is the right price and I will buy it!
thanks
I found this IR learning tool (USB-UIRT http://www.usbuirt.com) ...would this usb tool work with IR.exe? My idea would be to use this tool instead of the URC-8910 which is out of stock everywhere.
Any thoughts?
thanks
Andrea

The URC-8910 only helps you to pick up the numbers relating to a signal eg that of your exit or play button. This usb thingy you found should do that even faster for you. plug it in, use it to get the numbers that come up for each button of you remote. armed with those numbers, open remote master and using the guidances in the section for creating you own remote, input the numbers relating to each slingbox remote button, create bin file as per guidance and you are laughing. I am pretty sure it will work.
I have been through step 2, The remote learned the signals from my Sat Receiver, and verified it works, but when upload code to IR.exe, and check the learned signals, I have the list of all keys learnt, but nothing in OBC EFC description, all I have is in Protocol: Phase Encoded (RC-Type) and in the notes the following: 22 bits, MSB value = 1000101100000000000000 and for each key a diffenet MSB Value. Can anyone help please ...?
Hi, I have been tryiong to get this proceedure to work for a few days now. i have a SlingBox Solo from UK and it has the IR blaster 4 which i read equates to an "_RV" type Bin file that i need to generate. The problem is that the Sat box I'm using is a Dreambox and I have the perfect image and buttons all set up in Remote Master, but I can not generate the required "EXPORT Binare Upgrade" file as I get hte message "Upgrade Protocol code ***required***". If i selecte the Remote "Slingbox with UEI RV Chip" in the top drop down menu then i can generate the required export file but the remote image is then a standard and not the Dreambox remote. So all i have managed to save to my PC so far is an ".rmdu" file with hte remote image that i want and the mapped buttons. How can i get this in to the Slingbox player and working?
All i really wanted to do was to add the colour buttons (Red, Green, Yellow, Blue) to the Slingbox' Dreambox remote control as they have not been included in the virtual remote......
