SlingPlayer Mobile Review - The Mobile TV Revolution (Page 2 of 6)

Installing SlingPlayer Mobile

To download SlingPlayer Mobile to your Windows Mobile device, first download and install ActiveSync 4.1 if you haven't already, and connect your Windows Mobile device to your computer via USB or its included desktop cradle. (If you're not running Active Sync, or don't have the ability to do so, there is a manual installation option if you download the .CAB file with your PDA from the Sling Media site.) You'll also need to download and install the latest version of the SlingPlayer software for Windows XP, which includes the 1.0.61 firmware update required to get your Slingbox talking to the mobile client.

Installing the application was easy and simple. By launching the executable file, everything is automatic. It even sets itself up to be synced to your mobile; all you need to do is press "Sync".

The installation will take a few moments. Like you have for the last 3 months, sit back and wait in anticipation. If the installation is successful, there will be a message indicating so on your mobile device's screen, as well as a new SlingPlayer logo executable in your programs list. Here's where the fun begins.

Click on the SlingPlayer icon, and the mobile client will start. Once you're past the splash screen, you'll likely get a message indicating that your Slingbox directory has changed, and asking if you'd like to update your mobile directory as well. Press "YES". Once you do so, you'll be staring at a blank screen. Connect to your Slingbox manually by pressing "Player" in the lower left hand corner, then press "Slingbox directory". Your list of Slingboxes will appear. Select one, and press watch. You'll be shown a screen that says connecting. By now, the excitement will be swelling up inside you...

CONGRATULATIONS! You're now slinging... mobile style!
