The Customizable Buttons
The customizable buttons below the image in small mode are brilliant! Not only can you assign shortcuts to your favorite channels like you can on the PC, but you can also assign missing remote commands from the SlingRemote. This gives a lot of flexibility of how you want to use SlingPlayer and control your device. You can assign all remote commands so that you'll rarely need to use the SlingRemote, assign all favorite channel shortcuts, or some combination in-between. I settled on using a combination to maximize ease of use with flexibility while watching recorded programs.

To add a function, press the small plus sign in the box. If you're adding a remote command, there will be categories of commands toward the top of the menu. Once you find it, pressing it will add it to the box. If you want to add a favorite channel, press "Add/Edit Channel". You'll be taken to a page listing many different channel icons. Find the one you want to add and put a check in the box. Type the appropriate channel into the box, and click OK when you're done. Unfortunately, the build I was using didn't have nearly as many icons as the SlingPlayer PC software. Sling apparently chose to include the top 40 stations, but it's possible to add your own graphics.
