Well done taffowl. Will you be giving detailed instructions on how you've accomplished this little piece of ingenuity?

So maybe that is a little misleading but this clever person is actually enjoying the Slingbox from the PSP. Amazing what a little ingenuity can accomplish. Our hats go off to taffowl.

Bit of an educational experiment to see if I could feed the slingplayer feed onto my psp via wifi. First attempt but works in principal.
Software Used used: Slingplayer / Microsoft Encoder / VLC / Portable VLC

please share I have been looking to do this hats off to you for accomplishing it your the man
Excellent! I have been hoping someone could figure it out. If possible, please provide some details to your method.
What a tease! Slinging on a PSP can now be done with a little ingenuity. But can it be done with a software release? Inquiring minds with PSPs want to know.
All i can say is WOW. I tip every hat i have to you. Care to share how you got it to work? i would love to watch my slingbox on my psp.

What he forgets to mention is that you need a pc running with a copy of vcl at all times, =) but in principle it works over psp ... but would be cheaper and more efficient to buy location free from sony than having a desktop computer running with shoddy / breaking up image. http://portableapps.com/apps/music_vi... you can download the software from here, (if u have a tv card you can actually use vlc directly from the card, which will result in much better quality results and less bandwidth/graphics bottlenecks.). very interesting, but i am a skeptic. i dont think this is misleading. i think this is EXTREMELY misleading. i think this persom is using a locationfree device at the sametime that the slingbox is running and tuning both device to the same channel.
i will not install any unauthorized app on my psp--i wouldnt want to brick it. if you guys want to be a renegade and would like to try some experiment, use the following link or copy and paste to obtain info on the portable vlc app. in order to tunnel the stream to the psp using the slingbox or just wait untill slingmedia release their version. http://portableapps.com/apps/music_video/vlc_portable
didnt noticed andy's post untill after i have posted.
if you already have a slingbox there is no reason to go out and buy a locationfree player--just wait, slingmedia will work their magic.

trust me it would be much easier to use the locationfree device and the quality would be much better than having to re-encode on the fly. To be honest I just wanted to see if it would work..hopefully somebody or sling can now come up with a solution which is a lot less of a faff to setup.. I can't really see the average jo wanting to go through the whole routine of downgrading the psp setting up the psp vlc, setting up vlc on the pc, setting up ms encode to capture exactly the right portion of the sling screen all for watching poor quality video on the psp.
As Andy rightly said the pc has to be on constantly encoding and and streaming, I certainly wouldn't want to be doing that.
Since proving that it is possible I haven't used the psp with sling since.. I'm happy using my pda and mobile sling until a proper solution is developed if ever.
p.s the routine for downgrading the psp is very risky and can result in bricking it if not done properly!
Not really sure this was real. Firstly, the slingbox will only allow ONE device to connect at a time.
second, it would be very easy to fake, with a sony ps3, or location free solution. Just show the same video stream, not a problem.
