Here in the Sling Community, there a few members who have risen to the occasion to make sure everyone's community forum experience is a positive one. Read on to learn more about "ryandh", the newest addition to the team of hard working SlingCommunity Moderators!

Ryandh, can you please tell us your name, where you're from, and a little bit about what you do in real life?

My name is Ryan Hoelzer. I was born in Illinois, lived most of my life in Oklahoma, Colorado for a while, and now Mooresville, NC.

I do mostly telecom infrastructure installation, fiber optic equipment, phone switches in new housing editions, DSL infrastructure, and I’ve done some work on FTTP (Fiber To The Premise, similar to Verizons FIOS).

Do you have a family? Can you tell us a bit about them?

I’m single, My parents and 2 older sisters live in Tulsa, OK.

How many Slingboxes do you own, when did you get them, and what do you have them hooked up to?

I’ve got one SlingBox I got last November. I’ve got a Tivo S2, a Humax DRT800 connected to Dish Network (Tivo S2 w/DVD burner), Scientific Atlanta 8300HD, and a Sony DHG-HDD500 HD DVR. I sling to my Dell Inspiron 8600 laptop, a Sprint PPC6700, and a Cingular Siemens SX66.

You mentioned to us that you travel quite a bit, was this your main reason for purchasing a Slingbox?

My original reason for purchasing was to watch Oklahoma State football and basketball while on the road.

Being on the road a lot, we can imagine quite a few fellow travelers have asked you about the Slingbox. Is there any particular situation that stands out?

Probably sitting in the Denver airport with more people watching my laptop than the TV in the bar because I had the Dallas football game on.

Since you got your Slingbox, do you find yourself watching more TV than you used to?

Realistically about the same, I used to take 2 Tivos with me when I traveled, now I leave them at home and watch them wherever and whenever I want.

If you could pick a favorite show, what would it be? What other types of shows do you watch?

That’s tough. Probably ER or the CBS reality shows. I watch way too much TV. I can record 5 shows at the same time, 3 in HD…

What skin are you currently using? Do you have a few favorites?

I’m pretty plain as far as that goes. I’m currently using Smoked Glass. I also have All Black, Brushed Steel, and a couple others..

Do you have any other hobbies that take up your time when you're not working or checking in on the site?

I spent a lot of time being lazy at the pool and the lake this summer. I love to ski and hope to get some days in this winter.

What's your favorite feature on the Slingbox? If there were one thing you could change about it or add to it, what would it be?

The love the overall concept of the SlingBox. The one thing I really want is being able to change remotes on the fly independently of rerunning setup or changing inputs.

You've been a member of SlingCommunity since December of 2005. What are some of your impressions of the SlingCommunity?

It’s a great resource for education and problem solving. Even with a company’s tech support department available, everyday users of a product are often the best help with real world issues.
