The Slingbox PRO Review (Page 1 of 6)
The Slingbox PRO is Sling Media’s newest place-shifting powerhouse, and the most anticipated new product for both existing and new Slingbox owners. The Slingbox Tuner and AV take the existing Slingbox and split it into two separate products with the goal of expanding the market by appealing to the masses with easier setup and lower prices. The PRO is the new cat’s meow, built specifically for the more sophisticated A/V customer that wants to run multiple or HD devices seamlessly with one product. No doubt new customers looking for the most advanced model will be drawn to Slingbox PRO, but is it enough to make existing customers want to upgrade?
The Slingbox PRO is like the current Slingbox, only on steroids. It’s physically larger than the original, measuring in about 3 inches longer. Styling has been given an overhaul, as the PRO is red in color with a semi-translucent plastic shell that covers the whole thing. (thank you for removing the MY TV MY MUSIC ANYWHERE print from the top) In my opinion it’s fairly attractive in its art-deco modernist way, except the red really makes it stand out in a rack of gear. Given the size, this one’s a little tougher to hide, so it will most likely be in plain view whether you like the way it looks or not.
