SlingPlayer for Mac Public Beta Review (Page 3 of 9)
SlingPlayer for Mac – Menus and Details
If you have run SlingPlayer for Windows, the Mac client starts up almost exactly the same way. If you have no Slingboxes configured, the software takes you to the Setup Assitant where you can configure your Slingbox. If you have Slingboxes configured, you are presented with the Slingbox Directory dialog box, where you can choose to Watch, Add, Edit or Remove a Slingbox. There is also a help button and close button.

The initial skin that SlingPlayer starts with is the “Brushed Steel” skin.

While, I prefer Smoked Glass, many of the comments I have read from the beta testers are that this one is the most “Mac” like. However, the buttons do not look like Mac style buttons but rather have that “ported” Windows feel to them. As stated earlier, hopefully Skins will soon be available that make the application look the way Steve Jobs intended Mac apps to look.
The menu options in SlingPlayer for Mac are very similar to those in the Windows client. You have the following menus: SlingPlayer, Player, View, Options and Help.
