5.) Install Windows Media Player
In the package you downloaded earlier that contained the msxml3.dll, you should have received MPSetupXP.exe. This is the Windows Media installation software. At the end of the installation it will say that not everything installed successfully, but luckily for us we don't need Windows Media Player to work. We just need its dependant files to install and register... and it manages to get that far!
6.) Getting slingbox to connect and stream
Copy qcap.dll and quartz.dll to the system32 directory like you did for msxml3.dll. register both these files like you did before, and open winecfg again. Load the libraries so it looks like this:
7.) Getting things to run
Run winecfg via terminal again and select the graphics tab. Configure your settings as noted below:
- Allow DirectX apps to stop the mouse leaving their window: unchecked
- Enable Desktop Double Buffering: Checked
- Allow the window manager to control the window: Checked
- Emulate a virtual desktop: Checked 400x480
- Direct3D Vertex Shader support: Hardware
- Allow pixel shader: Checked
Run slingplayer located in /home/[username]/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Sling Media/SlingPlayer/ and run wine with SlingPlayer.exe eg. : wine SlingPlayer.exe
In SlingPlayer, make sure VMR is checked!! Then connect to your slingbox.
