SlingPlayer for Mac To Get More... 'Mac-like'
At the 2007 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Sling Media showed off several exciting new products and services... namely SlingCatcher, Clip+Sling, and a new updated interface for Windows Vista. However, Mac folks haven't been left out in the cold. Sling Media's Sharon Rylander was positioned at her own little booth, giving Mac fans a sneak peak at SlingPlayer for Mac's upcoming makeover.
Mac based Slingers, though extremely excited that Slinging is a reality on Apple computers, have been clamoring for a look that better matches the styyle and feel of their favorite Mac applications. Sling Media hasn't given up on improving the look and feel of SlingPlayer for Mac, and from what I saw, it's getting more "Mac-like" every day.

The SlingPlayer for Mac skin isn't yet finalized, but it's clearly looking more "Mac-like"
The recent addition of two new experienced Mac engineers to Sling Media's team should come as relief to Mac based Slingbox owners, which shows they're serious about the Slingbox experience on Apple computers. "We're extremely excited about recently hiring some brilliant Mac people--as in actual former Apple engineers...," said Sharon Rylander, Beta Program Manager for Sling Media, in her SlingCommunity.com blog.
There's no doubt their efforts will hone SlingPlayer for Mac's look, feel, and performance in a way that just may appease even the most hardcore Apple fans.
The next few months should be exciting for Mac owners. The current SlingPlayer for Mac Beta will reach its expiration date at the end of January, and according to Sharon's blog, a new version (with a new expiration date and updated IR codes) will be made available soon to keep everybody Slinging. The next major update, including the new Mac skin, should be available sometime before the end of the first quarter.
