What is the current version of the SlingPlayer for PC Software?
As of 10/2/2008, the most up to date official US SlingPlayer is version 2.0 (2.0.0.465). If you need to upgrade, you can download the SlingPlayer 2.0 software here.
Why can't I install the SlingPlayer software?
Installing the SlingPlayer software may require administrator rights on the computer. Either log in as an administrator, or contact the administrator for the computer you're using.
How do I adjust the Slingbox audio/video?
On SlingPlayer versions prior to 2.0, select "Slingbox" at the top of the Slingplayer, then select "Properties" from the drop down list. Under the "Slingbox Configuration" tab, click the change button in the Audio/Video setup box.
For SlingPlayer versions 2.0 or greate, launch the Setup Assistant and select "Picture & Audio Settings" in the left side menu.
Why does the picture appear very dark?
Make sure the composite cable is fully plugged in, and enable VMR9 in the SlingPlayer options.
Can I still connect to my Slingbox if I've lost or forgotten my FinderID?
If you are on the same network, SlingPlayer will automatically discover the Finder ID and connect. If you are outside the network, you can try connecting with your IP and port number. Read "How To Find Your Slingbox Remotely" to learn more.
In SlingPlayer 2.0, connections to your Slingbox are facilitated through the use of Sling Accounts, which do not require you to carry or remember your Finder ID.
Can I use the SlingPlayer behind a firewall?
Mostly yes. You may need to setup the SlingPlayer to use direct IP address handling or find a port that is not blocked by the firewall. Visit the Sling Media Support area or the SlingCommunity Forums for more on this.
Can I view the video full screen?
Maximize the SlingPlayer Window and enable the "Fit to Player" option.
Can I use a dynamic DNS service with a Slingbox?
Yes, it is possible to connect using a dynamic DNS. Read "How To Find Your Slingbox Remotely" to learn more.
What is "control mode" for?
Read "Explaining Control Mode".
How do I improve the picture quality?
Though there can be many reasons why the picture could be poor, the most common fixes are to increase your upstream bandwidth from your home, or connect from a different area or hotspot. Some users have reported manually adjusting the encoding bitrate can also yield improved results.
What can I do if I forgot my administrator password?

Why am I suddenly seeing strange artifacts in the video?
Slingbox Classic models with serial numbers 50600000 through 50700801 have a defect. Call Sling Media at 1-877-GO-SLING for resolution.
Can I run the SlingPlayer software from a USB key?
SlingPlayer for PC versions prior to version 2.0 can be ran from an external storage device, such as a USB Key by copying the installed SlingPlayer folder to your storage device.
SlingPlayer for 2.0 must be installed in order to be used. Since all personal information is facilitated through Sling Accounts, the SlingPlayer software can be installed on a variety of PCs without retaining your personal information. Log out of your Sling Account when you are finished with your session when on public computers.
How many computers may I install the SlingPlayer Software on?
SlingPlayer for PC can be installed on as many computers as you like, free of charge.
What is the minimum requirements to run SlingPlayer for PC?
The mimimum and recommended requirements for SlingPlayer for Windows 2.0 can be found here. The minimum and recommended requirements for SlingPlayer versions prior to 2.0 can be found here. However, many SlingCommunity members have reported success on running SlingPlayer versions prior to 2.0 on computers far below the minimum requirements.
