JPOPUSA,
Great idea and tips. I never thought about using the projector for music only. It could definitely save yu the hassle of copying your music to a USB drive and playing it that way.
SlingCatcher, Not Just For Streaming Video
Categories: SlingCatcher Computers / Laptops / Netbooks
SlingCatcher; it's not just for streaming web videos from your main computer. You can also stream just audio from any place your media player can find; network drive, PC hard Drive, or even a USB hard drive connected directly to your computer. No video is required.
Since I bought my SlingCatcher two months ago, one of the biggest uses I've found for it is streaming music from my computer and network drive, via WiFi (using a WiFi to Ethernet network adapter), to my living room A/V receiver and other TVs around the house.
These are the steps I perform to make this happen:
- Start an audio player on your PC. Any player, such as Windows Media Player, WinAmp, RealPlayer, VLC, etc.
- In the audio player, select the music files or playlist you wish to hear.
- Start playing your music files.
- With SlingProjector, connect to the SlingCatcher located in the zone of your home that you want to hear music.

If using a TV, highlight the animation for a show while listening to a playlist! - Move the SlingProjector "Project Window" on top of the application that's playing the music or playlist you selected. Then, left mouse click to select. For an even a faster way, select the SlingProjector "Project entire Screen" icon, or press the F6 key. While using the "Project entire screen (F6) feature. You can browse the internet without stopping the music from playing.

Streaming audio from Windows Media Player using the SlingCatcher "Full Screen" option.
With the new feature of letting you listen to PC audio at same time, you can even listen to audio through the SlingCatcher in the other part of house and still listen to the same music on your PC.

Don't forget that there's a buffer delay between the audio coming from the source computer and the SlingCatcher. So, make sure you close the door, or the audio delay between the computer and SlingCatcher drive you (and other people at home) nuts!
Have fun.
Nice, but I don't want burn my expensive LCD, just to play music. I would be better stream all the music in my cell phone like a 300 CD's player using the SlingMedia Player.

You don't need to use a TV LCD at all. If you have a couple of amplied speakers. Just plug the left and right Sling Catcher audio output jacks into the audio inputs.
I did this with my Living Room A/V amp. This way. I can listen to my music collections from my Network Storage drive without turning on the TV at all.
It just acts like one of those Old Roku sound bridge boxes.
Now this is neat.
I can access my remote desktop on the PC at my work desk, while still listening to my network collection on my AV system No skips or problems ar all with the same pc..
Note: This is done with Windows Vista Ultimate X64 Bit PC. I'm not sure if it will work with XP 32 bit or not.
Here is how.
Try it.
1 - Start up Sling Projector.
2 - Connect to the slingcatcher that you have connected to your audio amp or player that you want to hear the music from.
3 - Start playing the music source from the PC you will be using to run remote desktop from.
You should also be able to reduce the application to the task bar. As long as the applications continue to play the music.
4 - Select the Slingcatcher FULL screen projecting button. The music should start plaing though the amp or whatever.
Note. You must use full screen mode. Otherwise when you start remote desktop. Slingcatcher will PAUSE.
5 - Now just connect to your remote Desktop on the other side of world or next room.
I'm really starting to like Windows Vista. I think that SP1 install fixed some networking problems.
Enjoy!
Im just learning the capablities of the slingbox and wanting to listen to any
of the sirius channels available on dishnetwork. But haven't figured how to
get this music from the slingbox to whatever component I can use on a motorcycle.

Wow! This is a really neet idea.
I'm pretty sure a couple of the other's who are much smarter than me could tell you.
I guess you don't want to pay another subscription fee then and put a sirius tuner on your bike.
Which I would think Would be much less costrly then buying a cell phone to stream your slingbox on.
But if you already have such a cell phone device. Then I would gather. Once you connect your phone to stream your slingbox. Then all you would have to do is plug a set of headphones into the cell phone to listen to the sirius channels from your Dishnetwork.
regarding my cell phone-I would probably have use the internet to listen to the
music, yes - no?
GaryG
Yes, You would use internet and slingplayer mobile.

I am lost. Do I have to download SlingProjector software and onto what item? My PC, or my Sling Catcher.
The sling Catcher is attached to my TV, not to my computer. What I want to do is to run my PC which is one mile away, via my Sling cater at my mum's house. There is an option on the sling cater menu "Sling Projector". The options are to Connect or About.
So what should I do? Do I need another sling catcher on my PC as well to do this? If so, how do I connect a PC to a sling box? Surely this will work as well?
Why is the Sling Projector software downloadable to a PC? I will want to use it to run BBC on demand content via my TV, rather than on my PC. What do I have to do please. Thanks in adance.
PS - is it possible to run full screen of video content contained WITHIN a web page, that has a hidden URL on a Sling Catcher, and if so, how? Thanks.
James
Im discovering slingbox and it seems a really good tool.
Thanks at all for the comments and explainations!
