First Look: NBC's KATH AND KIM
The fine folks over NBC just sent along an email containing a first look at their new Thursday night comedy KATH AND KIM . Of course the big question mark is whether or not the Aussie import will follow in THE OFFICE’s “Comedy Night Done Right” footsteps? Or be the next COUPLING? Stay tuned… (more…) addthis_url = 'http%3A%2F%2Fthetvaddict.com%2F2008%2F07%2F15%2Ffirst-look-nbcs-kath-and-kim%2F'; addthis_title = 'First+Look%3A+NBC%26%238217%3Bs+KATH+AND+KIM'; addthis_pub = ''; More »

Tim Russert is Dead at 58
For years, one of this TV Addict’s Sunday morning traditions has involved a cup of coffee and MEET THE PRESS. So it’s with great sadness and sorrow that I write the following words: This afternoon, Tim Russert died of an apparent heart attack. Russert made politics both accessible and interesting. Never skirting the important issues of the day or shying away from the tough questions. 58 was far too young. Sundays will never be the same. For all the latest information, timelines and tributes, please visit the NYTimes addthis_url = 'http%3A%2F%2Fthetvaddict.com%2F2008%2F06%2F13%2Ftim-russert-is-dead-at-58%2F'; addthis_title = 'Tim+Russert+is+Dead+at+58'; addthis_pub = ''; More »

Don't Shoot the Messenger, Re: GLEE
From: CT To: The TV Addict Date: May 19, 2009 Subject: Shame On You, FOX! Message Body: For weeks, viewers have been complaining about missing the final moments of AMERICAN IDOL due to the show running over. But last night, FOX not only ticked off millions of viewers but officially screwed themselves by allowing IDOL to run over yet again… and in the process, assure that anyone recording GLEE on a DVR would miss the end of the show-stopping performance, not to mention scenes for the episodes we won’t see until fall. So afford me a moment of clarity, FOX: You spent millions of dollars over several months advertising GLEE only to then cut off the ending, including the first new commercials for upcoming episodes? In twitterspeak, that would have be considered a #massivefail. addthis_url = 'http%3A%2F%2Fthetvaddict.com%2F2009%2F05%2F19%2Fdont-shoot-the-messenger-re-glee%2F'; addthis_title = 'Don%26%238217%3Bt+Shoot+the+Messenger%2C+Re%3A+GLEE'; addthis_pub = ''; More »

Breaking: ABC Cancels PUSHING DAISIES, ELI STONE and DIRTY SEXY MONEY
We interrupt what should have been a highly enjoyable night of UGLY BETTY, THE OFFICE, 30 ROCK, GREY’S ANATOMY, SUPERNATURAL, SMALLVILLE and LIFE ON MARS to bring you some A wfully B ad C ancellation News (And yes, the intentional use of bold tags and incredibly lame play on words is an intentional tip off that leads into the crux of the piece. ABC (get it now?!) has officially cancelled PUSHING DAISIES, ELI STONE and DIRTY SEXY MONEY. Okay, not ‘officially’, because let’s face it, the Alphabet Network is desperate to avoid the deluge of lipstick that NBC is currently accumulating as a result of their shoddy treatment of LIPSTICK JUNGLE. But nonetheless, EW’s Ausiello , E! Online and The Hollywood Reporter have all confirmed (funnily enough, within mere moments of eachother!) that all three quality shows will not be shooting any episodes past their initial 13 episode order. Fall TV Preview 2008: PUSHING DAISIES
When we last visited The Pie Hole: Chuck was left to deal with the fallout from Ned’s confession that he was responsible for her father’s death [Who exactly says honesty is the best policy?] Emerson revealed that he has a daughter while ‘Aunt’ Lily dropped the biggest bombshell of all ? that she’s actually Chuck’s mother! Coming up on PUSHING DAISIES Season 2: At last month’s San Diego Comic Convention , creator Bryan Fuller promised more exotic locales, more adventure and undoubtedly by popular demand, more singing from Kristen Chenowith’s Olive Snook. Also falling under the category of ‘more’ will be guest stars galore. Including EVERWOOD alum Debra Mooney as Emerson Cod’s mother. David Arquette who’s expected to drop by in episode two as Randy Mann, a socially inept man who holds a “special talent” that will connect him to Ned. And NEWSRADIO’s Stephan Root who EW’s Michael Ausiello revealed... More »

A LIFE ON MARS Post-mortem with Executive Producers Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg
In what is sure to go down as one of the most literal endings in television history, Sam Tyler and Co. ended their seventeen episode journey known as LIFE ON MARS last night, doing just that. And whether you loved it, loathed it, or are still scratching your head over it — this TV Addict can’t help but feel that in this era of cancel-happy-television-executives — serious kudos must be paid to executive producers Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg for providing fans with any ending at all. Clearly, Appelbaum and Rosenberg get it. As evidence by the fact that not only did they make good on their promise to write and produce a fifteen minute ending to their prematurely canceled series OCTOBER ROAD (which will be included on the second season DVD coming out in MAY), they took the time out of their insanely busy schedule while up in Toronto... LOST: We Finally Got An Answer!
As is the case with most morning afters, this TV Addict woke up with the traditional LOST hangover (or LOSTover). Why are Kate and Jack covering up the truth about the Oceanic Crash? What’s the significance of Miles asking for not 3 million dollars, but 3.2? Who are the freighter folk working for? Not to mention the even-persistant questions about Ben! The island! The helicopter! Time travel! Well you get the idea. Yet amidst the never-ending barrage of questions was a glimmer of hope and quite possibly our first genuine answer of the season. Presumably, we now know who Kate was in such a hurry to get back to during last May’s shocking finale scene [see above video]. When Kate told Jack, “I have to go, he’s going to be wondering where I am,” the ‘he’ may infact be Aaron. So Kate/Jack shippers rejoice. Odds are looking good that Kate... More »

Worst OSCARS Ever
And the OSCAR goes to… the fans, for having to endure what can only be summed up as the most boring Oscar telecast ever. Rather than take the honest approach and admit to the world that there simply wasn’t enough time post-WGA strike to put together a proper (translation: entertaining and funny) show, ABC perpetrated a lie. Aside from Jon Stewart’s noble, classy and painfully minimalist attempt to keep the audience awake, the show was essentially a glorified Golden Globes press conference. In fact, the only thing less interesting than last night’s Oscars winning speeches was being force fed clips of previous Academy Award winners we either (a) didn’t care about or (b) didn’t remember. Here’s hoping that sometime in the not-to-distant future ABC will harness LOST’s time-travelling technology and give us five hours of our life back. addthis_url = 'http%3A%2F%2Fthetvaddict.com%2F2008%2F02%2F25%2Fworst-oscars-ever%2F'; addthis_title = 'Worst+OSCARS+Ever'; addthis_pub = ''; More »

First Look: GLEE Club Heats Up
Wondering why Kurt looks so happy? Well, if we had to guess, it probably has a little something to do with the upcoming November 18 episode of GLEE entitled “Ballad,” where he’ll find himself hooking up with Finn. Err… we mean in the musical sense that is — seriously slash fiction writers, get your heads out of the gutter — when Mr. Schuester splits the Glee Club into pairs to sing their favorite ballad. More photos of which you can see after the jump (Including a first look at serial-guest-star Sarah Drew). More »
First Look: UGLY BETTY Goes to the Bahamas
Wondering why Marc and Amanda look as though they’ve seen a ghost? Well, they just may have. Either that or they just got the news that they’ve scored an all-expenses paid trip to the Bahamas (Complete with cameos by Shakira and Christie Brinkley) when the gang from Mode Magazine heads south for their December 4th episode of UGLY BETTY . First look photos of which (including a few very spoilerific ones) can be found after the jump. More »

Is America Running Out of D-List Stars?
Finally, an employment crisis this TV Addict can get behind. Yes, ABC has put the brakes on the upcoming debut of LET’S DANCE , a reality show that was to be hosted by original D-Lister Kathy Griffin and was to feature “Celebrities” re-creating famous dance routines. According to the Live Feed , “Sources say the network had difficulty casting the series.” And while we’re slightly disappointed over the fact that Kathy Griffin — whose penchant for shamelessly plugging her book in between putting celebrities in their place never seems to grow old — will be out of a job. We’re not gonna lie, there is something oddly satisfying with regards to the idea that the American job market for once-famous-has-beens might be drying up. Even if it’s only a teensy little bit. Good News, Bad News: DOLLHOUSE, HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER & NBC
Good News: Plans for the sequel to DR. HORRIBLE’s SING-A-LONG BLOG may have just kicked into high gear. Bad News: With FOX officially cancelling DOLLHOUSE after it finishes airing its initial 13-episode order in January. [Source] Good News: Lindsay Price has officially removed herself from ‘Mother’ contention. Bad News: After breaking up (in real-life) with HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER’s Josh Radnor over what sources are calling ‘lifestyle’ differences. [Source] Good News: Execs at ABC, CBS, CW and FOX can rest easy. Bad News: For NBC, who according to Silicon Valley Insider will (inexplicably) keep Jeff Zucker at the helm following Comcast’s deal to purchase 51% of NBC Universal from General Electric. [Source] More »
Good News, Bad News: LIFE UNEXPECTED, FRINGE & EASTWICK
Good News: The CW has awarded their highly-anticipated new drama (and personal favorite) LIFE UNEXPECTED with GOSSIP GIRL’s valuable Monday night timeslot starting January 18. Bad News: With a great timeslot comes great [ratings] expectations. [Source] Good News: In an exclusive interview with Michael Ausiello , J.J. Abrams promises that FOX has been insanely supportive of FRINGE despite the show’s lackluster ratings. Bad News: “Insanely supportive” does not include moving FRINGE out of the most competitive timeslot in television. [Source] Good News: This just in, ABC has freed up some desperately needed space on our PVR/DVR. Bad News: After confirming their decision to not pick-up EASTWICK for a back-nine, essentially canceling the first-year series. [Source] More »
WGA Strike: Was it Worth it?
With the WGA Strike (almost) over, this TV Addict must now take a moment to ask the obvious yet slightly painful question. Was it worth it? Sure the WGA got their foot in the door when it comes to internet residuals, but at a pretty hefty price. The reality of this unfortunate situation is that this three month old work stoppage may have irreversibly changed the television industry forever. Writers returning to work may soon find themselves facing fewer jobs, fewer shows and worst of all, fewer viewers. So post away with your thoughts. Good Deal or Raw Deal? addthis_url = 'http%3A%2F%2Fthetvaddict.com%2F2008%2F02%2F11%2Fwga-strike-was-it-worth-it%2F'; addthis_title = 'WGA+Strike%3A+Was+it+Worth+it%3F'; addthis_pub = ''; More »

First Look: CAPRICA Teaser Poster
In what we imagine will do absolute wonders for the Syfy Network, which has recently come under fire as a result of some harsh (albeit deserved) criticism directed at what some have called STARGATE UNIVERSE’s penchant for exploiting its female cast members, comes this eye-popping teaser poster for the network’s upcoming BATTLESTAR GALACTICA prequel CAPRICA . More details of which can be found over on Maureen Ryan’s Watcher site . More »
Taylor Swift Hosts SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE for the Win!
Forget her multi-platinum selling albums and endless string of sold out tour dates. What separates last night’s SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE host (and musical guest!) Taylor Swift from the seemingly never ending string of “it” girls and overhyped “next big things” that for better or worse SNL loves to hitch its wagon to, is that the artist formerly known as Joe Jonas’ girlfriend did what so many others have tried and failed so-very-miserably to do: Keep this TV Addict awake until 1AM. No joke. From her adorable play-to-her-strengths opening musical monologue (see above video), her spot-on Kate Gosselin and Shakira impersonations or her multitude of characters in between (Our personal favorite, “Crazy Roommate” after the jump), Swift not only demonstrated genuine comic chops and like-ability off the charts — but more importantly — that rare ability (Cut to Neil Patrick Harris’ hosting gig waaaaay back in January) to raise the game... SETH AND ALEX's ALMOST LIVE COMEDY SHOW Was *Almost* Funny
If last November’s ROSIE LIVE! was the final nail in the Primetime Variety Show’s coffin, last night’s FAMILY GUY PRESENTS: SETH AND ALEX’s ALMOST LIVE COMEDY SHOW was the funeral. Starring Seth MacFarlane (FAMILY GUY, AMERICAN DAD, CLEVELAND SHOW) and Alex Borstein (the voice of “Lois”) SETH AND ALEX’s ALMOST LIVE COMEDY featured a mix of musical numbers, sketches and animated interstitials. Almost none of which — with the notable exception of a far-too-brief appearance by Stewie to introduce the trailers for the upcoming Warner Bros. films Sherlock Holmes and Ninja Assasins ) was funny. Offensive for offensive sake, the dynamic duo’s jokes ridiculing the Holocaust (Borstein objected to MacFarlane performing “Edelweiss” from The Sound of Music on the grounds that she is Jewish), Marlee Matlin’s speaking voice (Complete with cameo that went on far too long) and failed screen tests (Bea Arthur auditions for Showgirls ), all fell terribly...
