According to this. Harrah’s just announced they are going to build a 20,000-seat arena in Las Vegas capable of housing an NBA or NHL team. It’s going to be behind the Bally’s and Paris hotel-casinos on the Las Vegas Strip, is projected to open in 2010. “It just so happens 2010 is an opportune time for an expansion team in Vegas for either or both (leagues),” said Timothy Leiweke, president and chief executive of AEG.NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly said the arena announcement “positively impacts the prospects of Las Vegas attracting a major-league franchise” but said there was “nothing new to report” regarding league expansion or the NHL’s intentions about a team in Las Vegas. A key factor in the decision for AEG to build on the Harrah’s site was the “200,000 hotel rooms within walking distance. Goodman said the deal does not slow down city plans for a proposed $9.5... Why Sponsors Should Rely on the Pros
If you have not heard a NAPA sponsored monster truck performing stunts in front of an auto parts store veered into a crowd of about 100 spectators Thursday, injuring at least nine people before breaking through a wooden fence and stopping on nearby railroad tracks. You can read about it here. Also, not too long ago and Funny Car ran into a crowd of people. I have been involved with many Car and Truck events over the years and the first and foremost object is to keep everyone safe. I have worked with Robosaurus , Monster Truck Shows, Jet Cars, Top Fuel and even Rock Concerts . Every time we plan an event we work with a company that knows how to plan the event correctly and put safety first. This means that even if the show could be more exciting, if it's not safe it doesn't happen. If you... More »
Exploitation TV
If you have not heard, Larry Seidlin, the”crying” judge in charge of the Anna Nicole Smith body custody hearings, is getting a TV pilot for his own television show. NBC’s Access Hollywood reported that Seidlin - better known as “Sideshow Seidlin” after his quips and tearful verdict dominated news coverage of the case - has signed with CBS to produce a pilot. Seidlin has retired from his position as a Florida State Court judge to “pursue… many opportunities.” We think he is just one more opportunist exploiting Anna Nicole Smith. We for one will never watch his show, as we would never hire Howard K. Stern, to look out for our interests! Seidlin is just one more creep that came out of the woodwork to exploit this poor girl, dead or alive. We beg of you to not watch this show, don’t TiVo it, Sling it, or watch it. Ignore... More »
How Does Daly Do it?
This week's PGA Championship is sweltering Southern Hills. The temperature is over 100, with a heat idex over 105 degrees. But, who is in second place after today? None other than John Daly! This is a surprise because everyone knows what kind of shape he is in. In fact he said in an interview, "T here were odds with all the caddies and players this week who would fall first, me or my caddy" Daly didn't even play a single practice hole at Southern Hills this week, preferring instead to loosen up by playing slots at nearby Cherokee Casino. Daly said he didn't play a practice round for two reasons: He wanted to avoid the heat or having any expectations. It helps that Daly grew up 2-1/2 hours away in Dardanelle, Ark., so, he's played a few rounds in this kind of weather in his day. Still, how did he... More »
Was Donaghy Afraid He Would Get Wacked?
If you follow any sports news, you know that the FBI is investigating NBA referee Tim Donaghy for allegedly betting on games he officiated during the last two seasons. Now there is news that authorities are examining whether the referee made calls to affect the point spread because he had a gambling problem and was approached by low-level mob associates through an acquaintance, a official said. We may never know the whole truth, but someone like that would make it easy for organized crime or gambling to approach and have them referree a game in their favor, to cover a particular bet or points spread. Not only would you threaten their carreer by exposing them, but with all the big money involved in gambling I wouldn;t be surprised if they used other, personal threats too. There are all kinds of rumors and news floating out there right now about this,... More »

Baseball Minor-leaguers Watched Live on Slingbox
Just recently Major League Baseball was calling the Slingbox device illegal. Read more here But now, according to Joe McDonald of the Providence Journal. It's not a problem for them to use it for themselves. Apparently cameras have been installed at the home fields of Triple-A Pawtucket, Double-A Portland and Class-A Lancaster to have live shots of Boston’s minor-league affiliates. Then they Sling the action to the Boston Red Sox staff and general manager Theo Epstein. Joe McDonald says: Boston’s baseball operations staff can’t always get to all of the games, so a wireless image from a center-field camera is sent back to the offices at Fenway Park, allowing Epstein and his staff to watch every game. It is not unusual for Epstein and his staff to watch a Red Sox game at Fenway and then turn on the in-house feed to watch the JetHawks from the West Coast. This,... More »
Will Pro Wrestling to Check into Steroid Use
Unless you have been on the moon. You have already heard about Pro wrestler Chris Benoit, who we are told, strangled his wife, suffocated his 7-year-old son and placed a Bible next to their bodies before hanging himself with a weight-machine pulley. Benoit's 43-year-old wife was killed Friday in an upstairs family room, her feet and wrists were bound and there was blood under her head, indicating a possible struggle. Daniel was probably killed late Saturday or early Sunday, the body found in his bed, the district attorney said. Also, no suicide note was found. If you have not heard the whole story, read this. This is a very sad story. But now they have found anabolic steroids in the house and want to know whether the muscle man nicknamed "The Canadian Crippler" was unhinged by the bodybuilding drugs, which can cause paranoia, depression and explosive outbursts known as "roid... Hairspray the remake?
I typically don't blog or comment on new movies coming out but, they are re-doing the original Hairspray movie and we think it's not going to compare to the original. Even though they have an all star cast, they are making it into a musical and vven though the original had tons of music in it, it was not considered a musical. This is going to ruin the original movie. If you have never seen the original movie, do yourself a favor and rent it, you can also check out this trailer on the original movie. The original move was fun and even though the new movie is a musical and has a ton of stars, I don't think it will compare to the original! | Here are just some of the stars in the new remake: John Travolta, Christopher Walken, Queen Latifah and Michelle Pfeiffer They have a pretty... Worst NBA Playoffs Ever?
To use a line from the Comic Book guy from The Simpsons. The NBA Finals are over — what, you didn't know they had started? —Well the San Antonio Spurs' swept the Cleveland Cavaliers 4-0 As I predicted in this YouTube Video after the Spurs beat the Suns, this is what we would look like watching the rest of the NBA playoffs. Soon as the Phoenix Suns - San Antonio Spurs series was over the rest of the playoffs were going to be boring to watch. Seems I wasn't alone. Reading some of the viewer ratings, not only did folks think it was not going to be exciting, they didn't bother to watch it all all. San Antonio's four-game sweep of Cleveland finished with a record-low 6.2 television rating and 11 share on ABC, according to Nielsen Media. It was down 27 percent from the 8.5/15 for Miami's six-game victory... More »
Baseball, Bonds and Slingbox
I ran across this funny article about the "Bonds Navy" in McCovey Cove. What caught my eye is the ingenious use of the Slingbox: Then again, Ellison is the same guy who sometimes attaches his tablet PC to his kayak (the screen is protected by a clear waterproof case), logs on to the AT&T Park wireless, connects to his home Slingbox and then watches the Giants game with a 7-second delay. That's when the fellas will gather around to watch a highlight. These guys have even ordered pizza to be delivered to the Cove. How is that for a cool way to watch the game and get a chance to fish out a few baseballs? Course not everyone was into the game: "Meanwhile, up on the pier, next to the two dudes who are channeling "The Big Lebowski" and doing a J, is a guy named Joe." Read the full... More »
Major League Baseball says Slingbox Illegal
This was not written by me. See ARS Technia for more info. Here is what they are saying: According to The Hollywood Reporter Esq. (subscription) MLB is upset that fans can watch out-of-market games via the Slingbox, calling the device illegal. "Of course, what they are doing is not legal," MLB general counsel Michael Mellis told The Hollywood Reporter Esq . "We and other leagues have formed a group to study the issue and plan our response. A lot depends on ongoing discussions. Plus, there's no guarantee that Slingbox will be around next year. It's a startup. "MLB is of the opinion that the Slingbox violates contracts it has signed with cable and satellite TV companies and that Slingbox owners are redistributing content without MLB's express written consent whenever they place shift. The fact that Slingbox owners are watching content—encrypted to hinder piracy—that they paid for (or free, over-the-air transmissions... More »

Charles Barkley, Robert Horry Video Spoofs
The Suns are now out of the playoffs, but not before we have a little fun with them. My friends over at Radio station Ktar 620 did a audio spoof abut Charles Barkley and how he is always putting down the Phoenix Suns . Now we have put it to video. I think it's pretty funny. The theme is based on the “Real Men of Genius” commercials, hopefully you have heard them already. If not go to http://www.contemporaryinsanity.org/a... They also did one about how much the Suns fans hate Robert Horry . We took the liberty of creating a video of their audio spoof too. More »
Did Robert Horry get told to Foul Nash?
If you have not seen the flagrant foul that Robert Horry put on Steve Nash last night then you need to watch this first . What a lot of people are wondering is if Robert Horry was told to foul Steve Nash hard. I had an email discussion about this with Mark Asher of the Gambo and Ash show and Ash doesn’t think Popovich told him to do it. I am not so sure. Coming back from a time out, down by three, I wouldn’t doubt Horry was told what to do if the San Antonio Spurs didn’t score. This would not be the first time Robert Horry was told to t ake one for the team! You decide, watch the video and you will see how Robert Horry waits for Steve Nash. Everyone else is running down court and he stops, waits and then wham! Now, Amare Stoudemire and... More »
Robert Horrys Flagrant foul on Steve Nash
Series is tied 2-2.... I knew the game was going to be very physical one and it definitely was! In fact I was so excited about watching all of this game I made sure to be at home watching on my HD TV and TiVo S3. No Slingboxing on this one. I wasn't disappointed, it was a great game. But, there is no sense in anyone deliberately hurting an opponent. Watch the video and you decide. Was this a Flagrant foul? The ref's thought so, Horry was ejected from the game because of it. Reminds me of the time when Horry played for the Suns and threw the towel in Coach Ainge's face. I think he lasted about one week before he was traded. If you have not figured it out by now, from my other blog posts, I am kinda a Suns fan. So it was great that they... More »
