Suns Coach Not Happy

Posted to blog Sports News, Views, and the Slingbox on May 13, 2007 2:57 AM

If you are not watching the Suns - Spurs playoff series you are missing a lot of action! I had to go to a party tonight. Fortunately, I had my laptop and Slingbox so I didn't miss the game. Game 3 was a very physical one. Tons of contact was allowed and I don't think the Suns were up for it. Neither did their coach Mike D'Antoni . Maybe they thought that after the last two games the refs were going to watch the Spurs closer. Nothing could be farther than the truth. The Spurs were very physical and the Ref's let them get away with it. Watch this video! You will see Mike is upset and he walks out of the interview. You can bet the Suns won't be patsies for game 4, this one will be even more physical than the last. I can't wait! The Phoenix Suns... More »

Suns - Spurs playoff heating up!

Posted to blog Sports News, Views, and the Slingbox on May 11, 2007 12:32 AM

If you are not watching the Suns-Spurs playoff, you are missing alot! The series is tied 1-1 and the next game is Saturday in San Antonio. In the first game Steve Nash got a huge gnash on his nose. After banging heads with Parker. In game two Bruce Bowen Kicks Amare Stoudamire. Amare, the Suns forward says Spurs tried to intentionally hurt him. You decide, watch the video: I can't wait until game three. This should end up as one of the greatest series ever! I just hope no one get's really get hurt and no one gets suspended. That would really change the outcome of the series, and just wouldn't be fair to the fans. More »

Is NASCAR a Sport?

Posted to blog Sports News, Views, and the Slingbox on April 20, 2007 11:44 PM

I promised you a comment about nascar and is it a sport. Well, Nascar is coming to my hometown this weekend and you can see more info here. However, I personally am not a huge fan of NASCAR, but many people are! There are over 75 million NASCAR racing fans. I would say that driving a racecar is definitely a skill. However, is it a real sport? Poker takes skill too. So do bowling, hunting and fishing. Are these sports? Playing chess, video games and operating a computer takes skill too. I wouldn’t call them sports or give them much TV time. If you can smoke and still compete, then you probably are not an athlete and are not involved with a sport. It makes you wonder when the same families' children and grand children can compete at the same level as the patriarch. Check out all the families: The... More »

NBA playoffs - Are you ready?

Posted to blog Sports News, Views, and the Slingbox on April 19, 2007 9:54 PM

If you didn't know it, I am a huge NBA fan. I just got done setting up the TiVos to record the NBA playoffs, have set aside the weekend for watching them on the H.D. TV. Then made sure my Slingbox Pro is dialed in, just incase I have to "entertain" the wife for a few hours. So I think I am ready for anything that may come up this weekend. How about you? Are you a fan of the NBA? I am from Arizona so of course I am rooting for the Phoenix Suns, but I am sure everyone has their favorite team and opinion, like; Will the Heat repeat? Can Dallas take it all? What about San Antonio? Then we have the Wizards, Raptors, Nuggets and more that want to knock of the top seeds. I am looking forward to some great games, but I can't help to... More »

Real American Boneheads.

Posted to blog Sports News, Views, and the Slingbox on April 17, 2007 9:57 PM

For those that don't know it Charles Barkley played for the Phoenix Suns for some time. When he left the Suns, some say it was not on good of terms. It seems, ever since then, he really hasn't said a good word about them. This is especially degrading to Suns fans, because he is on TNT and seems never to have a good word for them. Well, finally Gambo and Ash came up with something that gives a little back to the Chuckster. You gotta hear it! It's a great parody! What's your sport?

Posted to blog Sports News, Views, and the Slingbox on April 16, 2007 10:08 PM

According to Wiki Answers in this article. The most poplular sport in the world is Soccer. I do not contest their opinion, but Soccer is definitly not the most popular sport that I watch. In fact, I don't remember ever watching a complete Soccer game. I would rather watch Australian rules football than soccer. Personally, My top 5 would have to be: Basketball - Pro Baseball Football - American Golf The Olympics - Especially the Winter Olympics I am sure everyone has their own opinion, and would love to hear yours. Everyone has an opinion, with brings me to my next entry. Bet ya can't wait..... Is auto racing a sport? some say it is, some say not. Watch for my opinion on my next blog. More »

Getting hooked on Driving Force?

Posted to blog Sports News, Views, and the Slingbox on April 11, 2007 11:24 PM

I don't watch a lot of "reality" type TV shows. In fact other than Sanjia on american idol, I could not name any other contestants. Only reason I have heard of him is because of the Stern show. But, with my background of hot rods and drag racing, I had to give this show a try. I am starting to get hooked on the show. Why? because of a couple of reasons one is the racing! They actually explain quite a bit about top fuel and then throw in some excitement, like this episode: Ashley makes her pro debut at Pomona, the first race of the 2007 NHRA season, and John sets a lofty goal for his team: get all four of their cars qualified for the 16-car elimination round. Two members of John's team qualify for the show early, but Ashley and John's struggles have them on the outside... More »

Masters Golf, Too tough?

Posted to blog Sports News, Views, and the Slingbox on April 9, 2007 9:23 PM

The 2007 Masters may go down as one of the most forgettable ever. Not to belittle Zach Johnson's performance, but sitting back and watching the world’s top golfers struggle for four days on a course that is too hard is just not fun. I spent hours of TiVo recordings and Slingbox time watching this event. So, don’t get me wrong, I don't want to see Major winners scorching round in 20-under-par, eagling every hole. But seeing them struggle, celebrating solitary birdies and finishing ten, 12, 14-over is not much of a spectacle either. This year Woods and company were made to look like a bunch of Sunday morning amateurs, ruling out any exciting head-to-head contests, as players fought to hang on to anything they had. Two-time Masters champion Jose Maria Olazabal, who finished 16-over, summed the week up perfectly. He said: “It was all about survival. It’s been terrible in... More »

NHRA Driver Eric Medlen 1973-2007

Posted to blog Sports News, Views, and the Slingbox on March 26, 2007 9:20 PM

NHRA driver Eric Medlen died Friday, five days after sustaining a severe head injury in a crash during a test session at Gainesville Raceway in Florida. The 33-year-old from Oakdale, who drove for John Force Racing, never regained consciousness after crashing his Funny Car into a guardrail on Monday at the Florida track. This is a sad day for drag racing. If you follow the NHRA, I am sure you already heard about it. But, last month, I had the chance to have breakfast with Eric. This was one of those setup breakfasts that the drivers do before a race to interact with their fans. He took the time to not only answer our questions, but to pose for any photos and stay as long as he needed, so we all got a chance to talk to him. Like many drivers Eric Medlen always had time for a fan. Whether... More »

That is Billion with a "B" How much of your workday goes into watching or following the games and updating their brackets? Estimates are that alot of us are doing just that. Check out some of estimated the stats. A recent survey figured that March Madness will cost employers 1.2 Billion in lost productivity. When should the prosecutors look into sports assaults?

Posted to blog Sports News, Views, and the Slingbox on March 16, 2007 5:32 PM

Unless you have been on the moon, or your internet connection has been down to your Slingbox, you have heard about the incident last week during an Atlantic Division battle between the Islanders and Rangers. Late in the third period, the Rangers' Ryan Hollweg delivered a brutal, but legal, bodycheck to Chris Simon of the Islanders. Simon responded by comming after him with his stick and with two hands, swinging it at Hollweg's face. The cheap shot left Hollweg motionless on the ice for a couple minutes and opened up a gash on his chin. Thankfully, he wasn't seriously injured. Here is a video if you missed it. Now I hear that t prosecutors have opened a probe into whether Chris Simon committed a crime. At this point Simon has been suspended indefinitely by the NHL. But at what point should an assault during a sporting event become a legal... More »

Suns Vs Dallas - What a game!

Posted to blog Sports News, Views, and the Slingbox on March 15, 2007 8:30 PM

If there was ever a reason to have a Slingbox to watch your favorite team. Last night was definitely one for me. The Suns - Dallas double overtime game was great! Being a Phoenix area native I am definitely partial to the Suns, but any lover of great sports would appreciate that game. The last second shots, the scoring runs, the nail biting at the end. This game had it all. Of course it came down to a last second shot by Dirk and as Mike D’Antoni said today, during our interview: He either misses the shot or doesn't, it simply comes down to that. I think this is a preview to what we are going to see in the playoffs when they most likely will meet up again. Both teams are vying for the top spot in the West. But The top seed is worth much more than bragging... More »

We Slingbox users love sports!

Posted to blog Sports News, Views, and the Slingbox on March 14, 2007 11:52 PM

We Slingbox users love sports and this is one of the main reason we bought the Slingbox. At least for me anyway. :) It is also the main reason the Slingbox was invented. Blake needed a way to watch his beloved San Francisco Giants. See this article on his vision and his craving. So they invented the Slingbox and the rest is history. Today we start a new SlingCommunity blog on sports, to continue the tradition. So, what a way to start this blog out by talking about the March Madness college basketball tournament! March Madness begins this Thursday. But, I am sure you know this already. In fact, if you are like me, you already have your DVR setup to record the games, and have already planned your game time snacks.:) You may have already placed a bet or joined a pool. If you have, check out the interesting... More »
