Weekly Update 5-07-07
Highlights include: Mac - WM6 - Palm In case you were trapped under a heavy object last week, we officially released SlingPlayer for Mac ver. 1.0 last Monday. Upon launch, we dotted the right eye of the Daruma per the urging of lead Mac engineer St3veh, who's been coding under the stare of the one-eyed Daruma since his arrival a mere 3 months ago. Later, the extended Mac Team (most are pictured here) passed out for roughly 15 hours. A huge THANK YOU to all who helped us out in the private and public betas!! We still love your feedback and are combing through all the new postings in preparation for future releases. Meanwhile, development of the WinMobile 6 player has continued fast and furiously. Weekly Update: I'm Back!
Highlights include: Mac - WM6 - Palm Missed you guys - took a wee vacation, then crawled out from under the pile upon returning, then... no excuse! Just out of the habit. But I am back, bay-bee, and have a few things to report: We're getting very close to unveiling the new Mac player. Meanwhile, I can confirm the rumors that we've added support for Apple TV, and it's hot: your entire iTunes library accessible from anywhere in the world via your Slingbox. Also: TiVo Series3 owners will finally get their own photorealistic remote control. (Welcome to the fam!) And everyone will get a brand new look and feel, much more in alignment with a proper Mac application, meaning, don't get too attached to your current skin...;) On the mobile side of things, we're busy testing Windows Mobile 6, and so far it looks solid. Highlights include: Palm - Mac - New Products Oy, I'm finally starting to feel human again. Have been nursing some cold or flu or something pretty much all week. SlingPlayer for Palm OS Current status: In testing Thanks again to everyone who applied! Wave 2 was selected earlier this week. Wave 3 is targeted for mid-next week. We're still on-track to release this quarter, and my plan is to continue adding people in waves until we release to public beta. About the selection process: I realize it's very frustrating to be so passionately involved in the Sling-Palm community and not have access to the beta software. Thought I'd shed some light on the mysterious, behind-the-scenes activity that happens past Wave 1 (already described in the link above). (Also why I slipped on posting here before the holiday.) I'll be adding folks over the next couple of days. Again, please don't take it personally if you're not chosen. I'm only able to add <1% of a highly-qualified, deserving, passionately in love with their Palm & Sling set of applicants, which means all complaints go to Mr. 8 Magic Ball. Quick PalmOS update
For those who have signed up to be notified of the Palm application form posting, check back late tonight or tomorrow morning. I've had a personal delay (read: funeral today), which will not impact our schedule at all, except that I'll just need to work that much faster once I get your applications in.
