Thanks Sharon,
Mac Public Beta Countdown
I will be publicly lynched if I don't chat about the Mac beta, so let's tawk. Here's the latest...
To repeat what I've said in the forums, I fully expect to release the public beta Mac client ("SlingPlayer for OS X") on October 31, as in Tuesday, big ol' Halloween. In the <4% chance that aliens abduct me hours before launch, scramble the software, and insist on pushing back the deadline for the sole purpose of torturing the human race, then I will setup a mini-private beta on the 31st for anyone who has posted on Sling Community and is willing to abide by our beta rules. In other words, for all of you who have been hanging out here at Sling Community, waiting all these months, I'm guaranteeing you a download on the 31st.
[Let's all just take a moment and let that sink in.]
Why don't I set that up now, you ask? Because if I did, I literally wouldn't have time to help make the 31st what it's intended to be: a Public Beta download. This is our aim: a Public Beta download. It's what I'm expecting: Public Beta download. 31st. Halloween. [...with the caveat that in the <4% alien abduction case, the software may not work so well for some of you.]
Let the counting begin.
Welcome to Channel Beta, a place to get pertinent Beta Program updates, directly from the Beta Team!
Well that's good news. Now I don't have to a) return my Slingbox AV to Best Buy to stay within their 30-day return window, and b) buy it again in hopes of having some Mac software to use with it. Looking forward to downloading something, anything, on the 31st.
The workaround is a GREAT idea. Thanks for being willing to go forward with this solution if the public beta doesn't quite make it.
Execellent solution... but again even the fact your are addressing us within the community goes miles farther than Sling has before.
Like I said in the forum, you have gone a long way to restore the Mac Community's faith in Sling. Thank you for understanding our situation and this wonderful solution! This may go down as the greatest "First Corporate Blog" EVER
!
Looking forward to the public beta. Hope it goes off without any spooky issues.
I have been following this forum for updates and I'm pleased to finally see input from Sling Media on the status of the Mac Player. I hope I will not become one of the "disgruntled" many by you missing the October 31st launch of the public beta. I would really like to take my Sling Box Pro out of the box.

Thanks for the honesty and the response that you have given us. I have been using the slingbox on a PC for ever, well at least since release and am looking forward to seeing it on a mac.
Thanks
Marc
Finally--I am ordering my sling pro now in hopes of the beta on the 31st..if it's delayed again, I"m starting my own placeshiftinig company and putting you out of business.
This is very exciting news...I cant wait to be able to use OS X to connect to my slingbox without having to use bootcamp and windows.
The only app I need to make my switch to Mac complete is Sling. Eagerly awaiting the 31st!
Great news. Too bad I purchased my Slingbox in anticipation months ago. I would have waited instead and purchased one of the new ones with better capabilities. Anyway, that's what you get for being an early adopter I guess...
I've been waiting for this software before I buy the SlingBox Pro from Best Buy. Sign me up and bring it on! (Been dying for this since January...)

I too have been waiting for this for months now. I thought about returning my Slingbox, but Boot Camp has helped out with this... Bring on the beta!
Is an email going to go out to everyone on the beta "waiting list" when the beta is live, or should we just come here and hit the refresh obsessively?
The wait is almost over!! I can't wait for the day I don't have to launch parallels to watch my slingbox. Great news!!!!
