News broke in February that Sling Media was releasing an updated version of their SlingLink powerline networking adapter, officially dubbed the "SlingLink TURBO 4 Port". The new model improved on its predecessor by getting a dramatic speed bump (from 14 Mbps to 85 Mbps) along side the addition of an integrated 4-port switch. As great as the new TURBO 4 Port model is, it's been considered as an upgrade to the original single port SlingLink as opposed to a replacement.

According to several online retailers (and now Sling Media's online store itself), they're set to release a single port version of the SlingLink TURBO, finally replacing the capable (but aged) version of the original SlingLink. So far, Sling Media has made no official comment on the release.

The SlingLink TURBO doesn't seem to differ much over its 4 Port brethren... other than the lack of the integrated 4 port switch. Each module looks identical to the transmitter in the 4 Port package. We couldn't get any specific specifications on speed, but given the MSRP price of $99 we'd be willing to bet it boasts the same 85 Mbps speed as the 4 Port. This also means that it will be HomePlug 1.0 compatible, so it should play nice with your existing powerline products.
