Sling Media Releases Slingbox Firmware Update

Sling Media today released an a new firmware update for all Slingboxes, fixing some minor networking issues that could cause remote viewing to stop working.

"It resolves the issue with some router models where Port Forwarding / UPnP settings are lost after a router’s WAN IP address changes", said Dave Zatz in this post on the SlingCommunity Forums. "If you've experienced this issue and Remote Viewing has started working again after a power cycle without making any changes to the Slingbox, updating your Slingbox’s firmware should prevent it from reoccurring."

Officially out of Beta as of today, Sling Media is recommending that all Slingbox owners apply the update.

Mac users that are running the latest version of SlingPlayer for Mac and have applied the firmware in that build already have these enhancements. Only those running a Windows version of SlingPlayer and Mac owners who have not upgraded to the latest version of SlingPlayer for Mac need to download and install the firmware update.
