New SlingCatcher Details Available

The FCC Filing has leaked new details on Sling Media's new Slingcatcher. All the features are currently scarce as the box has not been officially revealed by Sling Media but with the FCC leak we have garnered some new information on the, soon to be released, SlingCatcher.

Here are some of the details in the FCC filing. But first what is the SlingCatcher? According to their newly found user manual...

SlingCatcher allows you to watch digital video on your TV. With the included remote control, you can sit back on your couch and watch video from your Slingbox, or movies and Internet video from your PC.

But, it's really much more than that. This is a device you can use at home or take it with you when you travel. Using it in hotel rooms or vacation spots to watch TV from your home without the need of a computer at your remote location. You will be able to Sling straight to a TV, without the use of a computer. You can kick back, watch your programs all on a regular TV.

With this FCC leak, we have found out how it should work and what you get with it.

But first, here is some technical information. You can click on these pictures to see them full screen.

And the actual technical specifications.

As you saw above, the SlingCatcher will come with it's own remote. You can use this, instead of a computer, to control what you are watching. Here is the info on the remote:

The SlingCatcher will have analog audio, digital audio and HDMI connections. It will also have Composite, Component and HDMI connections for video.

It will come with an Ethernet jack on the back of the SlingCatcher that you can use to plug into your network.

It also has two USB connection ports. This is because, according to the user manual, Sling Media will soon offer a wireless USB adapter to connect to the SlingCatcher so you will be able to connect to it wirelessly.

One surprise is that, again according to their user manual, you can sync media content from your PC using the SlingCatcher Desktop software.

In order to do this you have to connect a USB 2.0 storage device to the back of SlingCatcher.
Sling Media will make available a USB to hard disk drive or USB 2.0 flash drive accessory, but if you have your own, you can install it by connecting it to a USB port on the back of SlingCatcher. The SlingCatcher will be compatible with most USB 2.0 storage devices, although your device must have at least 1 GB available free space.

We will get you more details on the SlingCatcher as it becomes available. Stay tuned for more information.

The Slingbox and sports go hand in hand! One of the main reasons I got a Slingbox was to watch my home teams while on the road. Here you'll find interesting things happening in the sports arena, and how the Slingbox and the (up and coming) SlingCatcher and Clip+Sling are used to keep up with your favorite teams. Of course, no sports blog would be complete without some statistics. You'll find some interesting stats here, but not the latest scores or standings. You probably know where to find those already.
