Should you take a chance and try the public beta of Slingplayer 2.0?
In a word - Yes.
I have had the opportunity to work with the software for a while. Is it perfect? No, but it is in good shape and you will love the new features.
If you do try the beta, upgrade the Slingbox's firmware (software) when prompted.
Sling Media Releases SlingPlayer for Windows 2.0 Public Beta

Sling Media today unveiled SlingPlayer for Windows 2.0 Public Beta, a preview of the next generation SlingPlayer software for desktop PCs. It's been almost two years since Sling Media released SlingPlayer for PC 1.4 - their last 'significant' upgrade to the software that Slingers rely on to watch their home television on a computer screen anywhere in the world.
The latest version of SlingPlayer software for PC brings a whole new level of functionality to Slingbox owners. The new software allows you to watch and control your living room TV on your PC with more flexibility, fun, and even greater control than ever before.
SlingPlayer for Windows 2.0 marks the introduction of two new major features: A 60 Minute Live Buffer that adds DVR-like abilities to pause and rewind live television, as well as an integrated program guide that makes browsing current listings a breeze compared to virtually controlling a set-top box or DVR.
Noticeably absent in SlingPlayer 2.0 is Clip+Sling, Sling's YouTube-like feature for cutting out clips of whatever you're watching and uploading it to a portal site to share with others. Sling Media showed a working demo of Clip+Sling back at CES in January, and expected to release it and the portal site with the SlingPlayer 2.0 launch.
The current beta is limited to Windows users, though Sling Media is working on bringing these features to OS X sometime in the future.

Hey Sling people: the integrated program guide sounds like a MUST-HAVE feature for the Symbian version of SlingPlayer. Trying to change channels and navigate the menus on my phone is by far the most aggravating and time-wasting activity in the SlingPlayer software. Having a nice, fast, native guide to browse would greatly improve the user experience.
How do I import a bin file for the remote control. I've gone through every code starting at the end and I'm up to 800 with no luck. This takes hours to find the remote code when the device is not listed. The device has a JU.bin and a PL.bin, but how do I import them.
IBCS,
Check this out and see if it helps.

I was able to get it to work by specifying the S2047_JU without the extention and the .bin file from before worked perfected. Thank you for the response.
ALCON... Do I have to unistall the older version or does it automatically remove the installed version?
Thanks
I did notice that it ignores the remote control settings, for example I have it set to 4 digit channels, and when I double click a channel in the channel guide, it only enters the 2 or 3 digits in the chan number.
