A little clarification . . . I own the SlingBox Pro...with the HD connect. Do I take it that the Slingbox HD Pro will introduce another magnitude of picture quality to what I already have?
Question #2 -- If I acquire the SlingCatcher, is that a substitute/ugrade for my existing SlingBox Pro, or yet another box? And if it is a substitute, including all the functions of the Pro, will it also be full HD?
Is this just me, or are others confused as well?
Slingbox PRO HD Now Available for Pre Order
Categories: News, Rumors and Gossip PRO-HD
It looks like Slingbox PRO HD is getting close to going prime-time... like really close. Starting now, you can pre-order Sling's fully high-definition Slingbox for quick delivery as soon as they're available, which means Sling is on track to hit their initial expected date of Q3.
First shown at the Consumer Electronics Show in January, the Slingbox PRO HD will be the first Slingbox to offer up video streaming at full high definition resolutions. Sling Media's previous top-notch Slingbox, the Slingbox PRO, offered HD compatibility through the HD Connect, but could only stream at SD resolutions.
We can't say if anything has changed from what we saw in our video demo at CES until we get some quality hands-on time with the final product. What we do know is that the MSRP has dropped $100 from the (lofty) $399 price tag announced at the beginning of the year.
Is it coincidence that SlingPlayer 2.0 is in its second beta, SlingCatcher is also now up for pre-order, and PRO-HD is on its way soon? I think not. It looks like everything is coming together to make this holiday season an exciting time for Slingers... provided you're even willing to wait for Santa.
Pre-order the Slingbox PRO HD from the SlingCommunity Shop (powered by Amazon).

Yes you are confused. The slingcatcher allows you to sling to your TV as opposed to your laptop. You'd still need a slingbox to do that.
The Pro HD streams HD where the Pro does not. So the Pro HD is an upgrade / replacement of the Pro.
Question 1) So Sling Catcher is a separate box that slings from one TV source to a remote TV, by Internet I assume?
2) How does the remote TV interface with the Internet?
3) Is the Sling Catcher signal HD-capable as well as SD?
4) Re. Slingbox Pro HD: Will Sling offer any trade-ins for older model Slingbox Pro devices?
5) When will Sling offer Mac users the ability to sling HD content?
Let me see if I can fill in some info here. From what Sling is telling me the Pro HD will let you "Sling" true HD content/quality online. You'll need an upload speed of 1.5k though. There will be no "tradeins," I asked this because my Sling Pro decided to die and they are sending me a new one to replace it.

Ok. So they've released the Slingcatcher but what's with the price? I was hoping to eliminate a receiver from my directv package and replace it with a sling catcher. But given the receiver is $4.99 per month and the Slingcatcher is 300.00, it would take me 5 Years to get the payback.
I'm hoping the price comes down substantially over time. This initial pricing is completely rediculous! Get real Slingmedia. The Slingcatcher should be priced at about $99.00. Your 200% above what I would have expected.
We've waited for what seems to be an eternity to get this device, and now we'll have to wait even longer until they finish gouging all the cool-aid drinkers who will buy this at this price. If we in the the SlingCommunity were smart, we would all rise up and just say NO to this price. Believe me, if sales slump in the pre-release phase, they'll drop the price, and we'll all win.
Phil, I am a bit confused you complain about pricing on the Catcher when the reivew is about the Pro-HD. As for pricing it was orginally listed at 249 when it was announced. It has gone up since then but the Pro came down $100. Where do you get the $99 price you came to? For all it does I don't think $299 is that far out of line. .

Dude. This review metions the Slingcatcher pre-release above, which is what I'm commenting on. The Slingbox PRO HD is great at the price they're offering, though I would argue they should offer special upgrade pricing to Slingbox Pro users as well. The Slingcatcher is what I'm saying should be priced at $99.00
WRT Phil's comment above, "...I would argue they should offer special upgrade pricing to Slingbox Pro users as well."
