Minimum requirements should list... US ONLY..

What about the Mac? Remember that platform?

Sounds horrible to say, but no thanks. The previous player is faster to load, easier to use, and works just fine. Please don't do anything which would disable it and prevent it from working. I truly appreciate your development efforts, but sometimes features are added to a product which not everyone needs or wants.

I agree...this is too slow.
The audio studers on my dell desktop PC whenever I do anything else at the same time. Even when it's pulling from the buffer, so it's not network performance. Driving me nuts.

How can I download the older version again? I couldn't find it.

I am happy to say that I was incorrect about having to log into the Slingmedia server to access my Slingbox on my LAN. I was able to fix a simple issue so that my player now finds my Slingbox on the LAN without logging in.

I am now streaming at over 4Mbit/s again via my wireless as I was with the beta version.

I fully understand having to log into Slingmedia in order to get the program guide information.

Glad to be wrong....

What happens if you try to use it outside of the US?

Never mind, after reading the reviews here I rescind my request to update the Mac client.

September 24, 2008 10:13 PM

Yah, the signing in thing is a bit annoying. Have to wonder if they're tracking what I'm watching now.

September 25, 2008 8:41 PM

What about the bugs? Just release it with bugs. Fine.. I guess I'll just uninstall. I thought they would at least fix the bugs before releasing it.

September 26, 2008 1:22 AM

So let me get this straight... You now have to log in, it's slower, and all you get that's extra is a GUIDE that you ALREADY had access to by clicking "Guide" on the remote control? So what's NEW in this new version, then, that someone would actually WANT?

September 26, 2008 1:24 AM

What's new?
Support for the new Slingbox Pro HD is probably the main thing.
If you want to watch in HD, I imagine the new client is required.

I have downloaded the latest version 2.0 and updated my slingbox here in Germany and it works great, the only thing that does not work is the tv guide. Instead of the guide option you get a favourites option. I guess when they release in Europe they will then give the TV guide option. I have found it works better than the old version for me as it does not keep crashing over the home network anymore.

I agree, where is the MAC version as well as, will we see the player for the iphone?

your new software is great the setup assistant is perfect Thanks Sling

I hate typing anything if I dont have to (Am disabled). If I gotta sign in every time I want to watch TV I probably won't bother. So I won't be updating my sling soft till they get rid of that login crap and the aparent slow load.

It saves your login, you only have to login once when you install the software. I don't understand why people are being so negative for me this software is far superior to the old version. The pause TV option is great and works well. The tv guide sounds like a great ideas but I am unable to test it as it is not available in Europe yet. Keep up the good work Sling and I am looking forward to the UK release.

 Re this update

I really dislike the fact that I now have to sign up using my email address to add in remote slings. They should provide the option for those who want to manually enter the sling id.

I also am concerned with this update and having to sign in that sling will be collecting information about me, my cable service, my sling usage etc with this update. I really don't need privacy concerns, no matter how sling promises to use the info.

If they can't continue to provide the same service without this business, I will be looking at the other options cropping up.

ed415,
If Sling Media wanted to track all those things they could do this already without you having to sign into anything.

Have a Sansa device or MP3 player, then check out The latest!
