Wow!
You can now use the Sling Catcher remote control to send mouse/keyboard commands to the PC: OK (left mouse click) and Enter (Enter key click). This can be used to control some applications on the PC via your Sling Catcher remote control.

I also notice on LAN. haven't tried WAN yet. Start out at very high bit rate. and optimize only take 1 or 2 seconds. When older version use to start always with low number 50 and go up slowly and switch between optimize and streaming. ie 50,10,200, 300 ,400 stream, 350 optimize 450, 600, stream........
But now start out at 6,000 as soon as connect and stay at this number. Optimize go away and streaming starts in about a second. I hope WAN work as good.
Thank You Thank You. Now really nice to use Sling catcher on Home TV's
SlingCatcher Software Update Ensures a Merry Christmas
Categories: News, Rumors and Gossip SlingCatcher
For those who've already gotten a SlingCatcher, or happen to open one from Santa in a few days, you'll be excited to know that Sling Media's got an update ready sure to enhance your Christmas cheer better than a glass of egg nog and some holiday cookies. Nearly every facet of Sling's Catching device has been given some some love, from SlingPlayer for TV to SlingProjector.
So what's coming to your Catcher for the holidays?
For starters, Sling Media's unwrapped the public beta of SlingSync, which is a simple application that makes it easy to enjoy your audio/video files on your SlingCatcher. We've drawn up a separate entry for this one. Learn more about it here.
First up is SlingPlayer for TV, which is giving you better integration with Sling Accounts, and improved, more reliable streaming from remote Slingboxes to SlingCatcher. You'll also be happy to know that SlingCatcher can remember the resolution setting for each Slingbox. Just set the Slingbox resolution from the Advanced menu for the remote Slingbox.
Next is MyMedia, which is said to have received a variety of enhancements that improve performance and stability. Plus, there's a new feature that allows you to play the contents of an entire folder in sequence, based on the sort order set by the Mode button. Not sure why this is useful? We're not going to spill the beans here, but I'm folks will be talking about it in the forums.
Continuing with MyMedia Improvements, Sling Media's got the 1-2-3 for USB drives connected to the SlingCatcher:
- For those having trouble getting that USB hard drive working with MyMedia, Sling's put some effort into getting better compatibility with more external USB drives.
- On the performance side, USB drive scanning should be significantly faster when reading large MP3 and AAC libraries.
- Another noteworthy improvement is the new spindown feature, which will spin down your USB hard drive after a few mintues from turning off the SlingCatcher (if your drive supports it).
And Finally, SlingProjector's been given a bunch of enhancements and fixes:
- SlingProjector should now work with 64-bit versions of Windows Vista and Windows XP
- The inclusion of performance profiles, meaning SlingProjector will now automatically adjust performance based on your computer's capabilities.
- A new 1280x720 full screen mode, so SlingProjector can stream at a resolution of 1280x720 to SlingCatcher when 'Project Entire Screen' mode is selected. The picture quality is greatly increased when your PC’s display resolution is set to 1280x720 when using this mode.
- Streaming video quality is improved for the 'Project Window' mode.
- There's some new features allowing you to keep your PC audio on while projecting, as well as allowing you to turn off the computer display or shut the lid while projecting.
- You can now use the SlingCatcher remote control to send mouse/keyboard commands to the PC: OK (left mouse click) and Enter (Enter key click). This can be used to control some applications on the PC via your SlingCatcher remote control.
To get the new SlingCatcher software upgrade, hit your SlingCatcher's menu and choose "Check for Software Updates." The new SlingProjector can be downloaded from Sling Media's website.
There's a lot of great stuff here, and more is on the way. In a recent discussion with Sling, we were told early internal demos of Slingbox PRO-HD streaming to a SlingCatcher in HD quality is looking promising. Mum's the word on when this ability may find it's way into a SlingCatcher near you, but it doesn't seem likely you'll be able to ring in the new year high-def style. Still, the fact it's in the works and progressing well is a good sign.
What do you think of the new features and enhancements to SlingCatcher? Post your comments below, or head to the SlingCatcher Forum.

The other cool thing is playing folders. Why would you want to do this? Because of music files. Put all your music files into one folder click play and it plays them all in order. Cool!
...Follow Me on Twitter... Why is it after I push 1 for English I still can't understand the person on the other end?...
Ok, Just installed on my 64 Bit Vista laptop.
Dual core 2.8 gHz CPU X9000
Nvidea 8800 MGTS video card
4 GB of memory. No other applications running. Turned off AV software too.
Connected directly to router.
Turned off desktop pc. So only things on network are. Catcher, laptop and router/modem.
Even doing all this and making the window small with the Low profile selection.
The projector eats up CPU all the way to 100 percent and the sling catcher PC warning light come on. The bit rate crashes and burns. It tells me My computer is does not have enough power to run this application.
Yet, The 32 Bit version running on my desktop with CPU x9650 3 Ghz quad core
and Nvidea 8800 GT runs fine and only uses between 20 to 25 percent CPU and works great.
There must be something wrong. with the 64 bit version.
If anyone gets the 64 bit version to work on their laptop without crashing. Please let me know. What make modle and video card and cpu you are using.
I find it hard to believe. I'm going to need a Quad core CPU to run this program on 64bit laptop?
Thank you
Where's LAN streaming of music and video files? I shouldn't have to use a USB drive.

I LAN stream all the time.
I just start Player from anything such as Windows media player, winamp... and move projector over window and audio plays just fine though TV or AV receiver.
I also Click on AOL Radio webplayer to listen to radio station.
This works great for me. Well, other than on 64 bit laptop hee hee.
Alf7 said: I agree with Billy, Slingprojector is great for streaming media from the internet, but for files already on your hard drive, the catcher should be able to network stream without the need of a connected USB port. This was not clear to me when I purchased the unit. Hopefully this is an upgrade soon to come.
As I said above. This very simple to do.
In fact I use the files on my external net drive all the time.
As I said. Just start Audio Video player such as Windows media player or Winamp. Then Use Sling projectore program and move the projector window on top of the player and click the mouse.
It will play all your music, playlists, videos..............
I have no need to plug drive into USB port at all.
This is what Sling catcher/projector was made for.
So very cooooooooooooool!!!!
The only thing missing is to add mouse pointer control to remote. Sling is on the way I hope. becuase they just added Left mouse click and enter key. Now we just need to move the mouse pointer around.
Maybe they can just use the left, right, up and down keys for this.
Once again. You can stream over LAN right now to the catcher. No need for anything to be plugged into USB port.

I downloaded the latest software; but I still can't seem to play my many family videos one after the other. I still have to push 3 or 4 buttons for each video clip even though the clips are all in the same folder. Clicking "Mode" only cycles between alphabetical sort and date sort. Am I missing something??

How do you do this? Sorry about the double post but I'm going crazy trying to play my videos one after the other without having to click 3 or 4 buttons for each video in the same folder.
Does SlingMedia have an instruction manual how to use the new features?
Any help will be much appreciated.

Never mind. I discovered how. First go the folder (don't open it) then hit the play button. The folder will play all videos in the order (Mode) that you've chosen.
I very much like the the conversion feature which, while slow, certainly does a great job of converting my MOV Hi Def movies (Panasonic TZ5) to Hi Def movies which play using USB and Slingcatcher Media.
