On your original post, you mention that 8100's running EDGE will unofficially work. I keep getting an error message from the download site saying my phone is not supported. I there a way around this?

Yes, I can log into the sling account. I went to BB settings and set to WI-FI. I log in and then it retrieves SB's. It tries toi connect but I get the message "Slingplayer cannot connect to your Slingbox. Please check the internet connection on your phone and try again"
The internet connection is working because I can browse.
BTW, Thanks for your help and more thanks for getting the BBplayer out. I have been waiting over a year. A litlle more work and I'll be there!

I just tried to download firmware version 4.5 from Blackberry, but it said I am already running the most current version. When I check options/about, it says v4.2.1.107. Does this make sense?

There are a few threads in the BlackBerry forum under the Forums here that explain it in detail and how to determine if that is really the issue.

Does this make sense? That's definitely not the latest. You may need to use non-standard channels to get newer firmware if your carrier hasn't released it, but it is definitely available. I went back and read the threads. I'm sorry, but I don't understand what I should do. I went into the router a Linksys WRT54GL and can't find anything referencing loopback. I'm lost.
Again it the BBSPL works great on mobile network, but won't on local WI-FI. It goes through the process. It locates the WI-Fi then tries to connect and nothing.WRT54GLRT54GL
Thank you. I am working on tracking down the latest firmware version. I'll let you know how things work once I get 4.5 installed.
MegaZone said: You need to use SlingPlayer for Windows 2.0 to manage the Slingboxes in Sling Accounts and to create favorites. The equivalent for Mac OS is still in development, as is a web-based interface. If you can't use SP2.0 you can still use SPM BB by not logging into Sling Accounts and entering the Slingboxes locally instead. Not to sound too stupid...but how do I do that? I know you're getting pounded......but with the 2.0 now my sling at home isn't even working...if I can access through here, at least I'll be good in the meantime
I hope you have a exchange program to trade in my old programs that are useless for my blackberry storm, considering the fact i have bought not only the winmo ppc i also bought the winmo smartphone version... and have been a loyal customer for quite sometime. Now i have to sit here while you test it on the un-most realiable networks... ie NOT VERIZON!!! I mean seriously, why would you try it on the "hurl" and the "old" and not the storm.... (and yes i did spell it that way to prove how crappy those phone are).
I am having trouble connecting to my Slingbox with my Blackberry bold. It gives the error message when I connect: Slingplayer cannot connect to your Slingbox. Please check the internet connection on your phone and try again. Any recommendations to fix?
I have noticed that on the BlackBerry version of Sling Player Mobile, I don't have the buttons to use the cursor keys on my DirecTV remote. It makes navigating my DVR list almost impossible. Am I missing something here? It was avaialable on my Windows Mobile versions (both Standard and Professional). Any feedback is appreciated.

It seems that the only time you get the error messages "Slingplayer cannot connect to your Slingbox. Please check the internet connection on your phone and try again." is when your are trying to connect to a Slingbox on the same network has your BB device.
The issue only seems to happen when you either login with your account (or manually enter your FinderID).
The only way I have been able to view my local Slingbox is to manually enter the Slingbox's IP address. When you are on a mobile network or another wifi network you will be able to connect with your account.

The only way I have been able to get my SPM to work on my local network is to enter the IP address of the Slingbox.

This morning I downloaded the beta on my Blackberry Bold. Sling connected perfectly and the video was excellent!
When I got home I got the error message - Slingplayer cannot connect to your Slingbox. Please check the internet connection on your phone and try again.
Both areas were WiFi but I have AT&T Uverse at home. I assumed that it could be a firewall issue with the U-Verse gateway. Any thoughts?

When your device is on your local network...try to connect just by entering the IP address of the Slingbox.
