Australians have everything: Foster's on tap everywhere, kangaroos, and plenty of crocs. The only thing notably absent has been Slingbox, but that's finally about to change. In late March 2009, Slingbox and SlingCatcher will be coming to Australian retailers, and locals will finally be able to watch a little TV while on walkabout.
"We've had a strong response from Australian consumers from the moment we launched the first Slingbox in June 2005 and we are very pleased to be entering the Australian market today," said John Gilmore, president and CEO of Sling Media, Inc.
Sling Media has appointed Digital Products Group as the distributor for Slingbox in the AU, who also distributes products from Argus and BeyonWiz according to their site.
The Australian launch will consist of four different Sling Media hardware Products: Slingbox SOLO ($349 AU), Slingbox PRO ($499 AU), SlingCatcher ($499 AU), and SlingLink Turbo 4-port (price TBD). SlingPlayer and SlingPlayer Mobile for all current mobile platforms should also be available at launch.
