SlingPlayer for PC 2.0.3 Live, Officially Brings SlingPlayer 2.0 to the EU

Hot on the heels of Sling Media's iPhone SlingPlayer comes a new build for desktop PCs. SlingPlayer for PC 2.0.3.508 includes some various bug fixes, but doesn't add in loads of new changes from a feature perspective shy of the hybrid-tuning support on the PRO-HD (catching it up to the Mac player that was released last week).

While it may not be exciting to US customers, those across the pond will have a different perspective. SlingPlayer 2.0.508 includes localization for the EU (French, Spanish, Italian, and German) making this the official debut of SlingPlayer 2.0 in Europe. Until now, our friends overseas were still on the bufferless, less feature packed 1.x version of SlingPlayer.

Channel guide and custom favorites problem in Europe ?

Hi,

I downloaded the French version of Slingplayer 2.0.3 which is a nice improvment indeed !

There seem to be 2 unsolved issues :

- There is no program guide for France.
- There are no custoim icons for French channels and no way to add theml manually.

Any help on these issues would be most welcome !

Regards,

Elie

If the SlinPalyer is official in EU why no iPhone App in the EU App Store (France, Italy etc.)? Why only in US and GB?

Hi, in Netherlands no program guide (at least not on analogue cable connection). Probably only when it is digital cable.
Question: are the also slingboxes that we can connect in other countries, to see other channels?

Hej, I can not find a program-guide for Sweden and there are only a few icons for some swedish channels. Furthermore is there no way to add/edit them manually? Favourites still "beta"? Please keep on working with this stuff!
Thank you anyway for the nice buffering solution!
Greetings from Mike with a, when abroad, "still choppy Solo".

Thanks for the update, but surely the point of an update is to improve features, not remove them? With older slingplayer versions channel names of coax connections could be seen, eg channel 1 - BBC1 etc but with this they are gone

V1.5.1 - http://img32.imageshack.us/i/151p.jpg/
V2 - http://img24.imageshack.us/i/latestm.jpg/

but during the coax setup of slingplayer v2 you see the channels and names???

Surely you should sort out the basics like this and the EPG for coax connections in europe before you start messing around with more advanced features such as buffers etc!

What is your problem? Since the last firmware- and playerupdate the application works like a charm! The video is not so choppy anymore and the audioquality is much better now. We with a "Solo" have our own dvb-box attached anyway and can use the remotecontrol for EPG and so on. We only missed (still miss!) those nice editable channel- fastbottons like in the earlier version!

I think nobody is messing around with the software, Micke.

Maybe you misread... I am not complaining about the playability/quality of slingplayer, and i agree that streaming works very well indeed. What i do not understand is how an older version 1.5.1 has features which have been removed in the latest release, which can clearly be seen in the pics I posted! The point of an upgrade is that features should be improved/added and not removed, as some clearly have been in V2.

Lastly, we with a "Slingbox pro" do not require to have an external tuner/dvb for coax connections... That's the whole point of buying a pro!! Again the EPG is something which works in an older release of the software, but not the current one!

My posts are not meant to offend/insult, but simply to make people/developers aware of issues so they can be ironed out! Even you agree that it would be very nice to see a V2.x with all the features of the older slingplayers, combined with those of the current release!

The older versions used to put the sites in the directory in alphabetic order. This version doesn't as far as I can see. Is there an option for that? If not it would be a good idea to add that option back in the next version. Thanks
