"Sling Media" could just be a player for watching videos from sling.com, which is nothing different than a youtube player. This leak by no means is indicative of a slingplayer mobile to connect to a sling box.
SlingPlayer Mobile Headed to Palm Pre?

The boys over at Engadget happened to be peering through a a Sprint-sourced page out of a Pre slide deck, and caught Sling Media's name in a section titled "Showcase Apps."
We haven't gotten any wind of a Pre app already in development, but perhaps the cool cats over at Sling HQ are getting pretty good at keeping secrets these days. Of course, it's also just as likely this slide may just mean that the Palm Pre can handle 'showcase apps' like SlingPlayer should Sling decide to create a SlingPlayer App for it.
We won't know for sure until Sling gives up anything concrete, but what we can tell you is that for a phone that isn't even out yet, there's already some pretty strong demand for a Pre SlingPlayer. It's (as of this writing) currently winning our "Where should Sling go next poll."

If sling is seriously making an app for the pre then they are making a big mistake. The pre is good, but why the hell havent you made an android app yet? Its suppored on multiple phones and computers

Sling's told me for months they're working with Palm and both sides have been enthused with the possibility of bringing Slingplayer to the Pre. Guess you guys aren't following me closely on Twitter where I've mention this a couple times. ;) Most recently:

"Working with Palm" and "enthused with the possibility" isn't exactly the same thing as confirmation actual development for the Pre is in progress.

Dave, I'll ask...would you care to elaborate? ;) I think its more of a habit of waiting and seeing with SlingMedia after the missed launch dates, and misinformation passed around and hoped for...

Yes, as I said above they've been working together. And I highly doubt Sling will be ready at Pre launch (we all know how slow they are producing these mobile clients) though both parties are feeling positive/enthused. Give Vicky a call, perhaps she'll fill you in with more details. H.264 could also be an interesting topic. And you may also want to inquire about Android - I haven't been able to get much info on that other than they're watching the platform. So either they're being coy, or it's not a priority. Check their intentions of a Symbian upgrade later this year to support the E71x.

I really love my Pre but really miss Sling Mobile. Let's not throw Palm under the bus here for Android. Palm put Sling Mobile on the map with the Treo, both Windows Mobile and Palm OS apps. I hope they launch it soon. Pre is good but not great yet. Needs thread sorting on email and spell check which I can't believe they left that out, wow!

i would not like to see it on the pre. I would like to see it on a successful mobile platform like android. I'd like to see sprint approve a tv app when they have their own that they are trying to sell...
