Hi,
I live in Singapore and just installed a Slingbox but I'm not able to control my Starhub set top box with any of the control codes provided. This amounts to paralysis for me as I travel extensively and I'm not able to channel surf / control my set top box remotely. I'm able to receive audio/video for designated channels seamlessly so I just need to be able to brows through them now! The IR emitters are working fine (I did the digital camera test) and also placed them in a variety of positions just to make sure it wasn't a problem with the placement of the emitters.

Any suggestions that you may have are greatly appreciated !

Cheers !

Red Mojo,

Hi there. I am not sure if we have support for that unit or not. Can you email me a picture of the unit and the remote control?

Best,
Jeremy

Hi Jeremy,
Here's a link to the user guide for the StarHub Set Top Box/Remote with pictures in it:

Let me know if there is any additional information that you are looking for.

Cheers!

Hey Red Mojo,
I have been helping the guys at Sling with this. As I can't find any details of what IR signal this box uses, I have emailed the Starhub tech support but they are unwilling to give me the IR info.

Would you be willing to send your Starhub remote to us here in the USA so we could capture the signals? I don't know what the mail is like to and from Singapore so I can't say how long you would be without the remote, but we could have it back in the mail the next day.

After many emails back and forth between myself and the guys at the Starhub held desk, I'm sorry to report that they have no interest whatsoever in helping Red Mojo get his Slingbox working with his Starhub cable box. They say that their remote signals are "confidential" and they refused to give me any info on them. They also refused to loan me a remote so I could capture them myself. Terrible.

Hi Rob,
Sorry I missed your earlier posts, I've been travelling for the past couple of weeks and hadn't logged into the SlingCommunity site for a while. I don't mind mailing the remote over to the US - what address should I send this to ? I'll be travelling again for a couple of weeks starting Monday so this would probably be a good time to mail it out.

Cheers
Red Mojo

Welcome back to the forum. Please send me an email using rob1 (at) rockabilly (dot) net and I'll send you my mailing address.

I'll also forward you some of the emails I got from the idiots at Starhub if you're curious!

The Starhub box is an ADB3000, (http://www.adbglobal.com/products/documents/ADB3000_Series.pdf)

The IR codes are a little strange, I've tried grabbing into two universal remotes (Pronto and Philips - pronto wouldn't take it) and the Philips would often respond twice to the command, i.e. program up would jump two channels, number 7 resulted in 77.

As for StarHub, don't even get me started.....

I'm keen to get this issue resolved too.

Where are you located? Would you be willing to loan me your remote so I can see if I can capture the signals? Red Mojo didn't send me an email and it sounds like he's on the road again.

So John and/or Red Mojo, what's the word? I haven't heard from either of you.

Sorry, I've been travelling too much (but had some interesting sling experiences - 700Kbps in Mumbai from a box in Virginia)

I have a contact at StarHub that is trying to get me a spare remote.

I'll try and follow up on this soon but travelling again thiS week

We now have an upgrade for an ADB box, model ABQ-1H57-SCV, which could well work with the Starhub also:

I justed wanted to confirm, for the benefit of all Slingbox owners/users in Singapore, that the ADB ABQ-1H57-SCV upgrade, provided by The Robman, does indeed work for the Starhub Digital Cable box here in Singapore. G'luck. Ask if you need help.

Thanks TSS, it's always nice to get some closure to these issues, especially when you've put alot of effort into solving them. Hopefully we'll also hear back from John and Red Mojo at some point.

I finally got a chance to test out the ADB ABQ-1H57-SCV upgrade and it's wicked ! Thanks to everyone for their efforts on this - it makes a bumper Xmas gift :)

Wishing you all a safe and happy New Year !

Cheers!

Hi,

A long shot here, hopefully red mojo or johnw88 will see this. I'm working on a story about the sling box for this Sunday's LifeStyle newspaper, and am hoping to find someone who's been using the Sling Box in Singapore. Would appreciate greatly if you could give me a ring at (65) 9846 9667, or email me at szeyong@sph.com.sg when you see this?(ok, not the smartest thing to do to post my number on the web, but kind of desperate here.) tks in advance!

Hi Mojo,
1) I'm an SCV subscriber too. Exactly how did you get your software to emit the right codes for your supposedly ADB3000 set top box?
2) I also have another, older SCV set top box around (I assume that's non-digital), which is black in color. I would assume that the above codes would not work with this older box?
REALLY THANKS FOR YOUR REPLY as I cannot seem to figure out how to achieve what you seem to have - make it work!

Hi,

How do we setup the download remote code to get the starhub cable box to work?

please help. Thank you.

January 31, 2006 12:52 PM

i am having problem locating these steps.

Open the SABV.cfg file, which can be found in your Sling Player directory, using Notepad or another text editor.
Save a backup copy of it !!!
Find the appropiate section (eg, [SATELLITE.Codes] )
Add an entry like this: Your Device=S1011

Thank you.

Hi,

My bad. Located the error. Seems like the instructions is not for the beta version. Nevertheless, I've managed to go through the procedure and the exported code. However, it returns that the selected code is not available for this device. Any idea what went wrong?

February 1, 2006 5:25 PM

Did u put the exported code in the same directory of all the remote control codes? In my case I put C2000_PL.bin in the same directory as all the other remote control codes and added this to my SABV.cfg file in the [CABLEBOX.Codes] section:

[CABLEBOX.Codes]
Starhub=C2000
