Rocket,
Hi - did you make sure your Dishplayer is using remote address #1? For a description of this, go to http://www.slingmedia.com/support/ then click on "Remote Control Issues" and find the article "How do I get the Dish DVR receivers to work with the SlingPlayer IR emitters?"
Please let me know if this works for you.
Best,
Jeremy

Anyone know what the IR code for the Dish PVR 942 is? I tried all of the other Dish receivers, but no codes from those work.
Thanks.
Can anyone show me how to add "custom" remote control commands for the PVR 721?
So far I have managed to find that code S1322 allows basic control - but none of the PVR functions - in particular the PVR button (grey button) - work. And I note that Record works - but there is no STOP - which is kinda weird (as the harddrive would just fill up if you accidentally launched record - without telling it to stop recording at the end of the event).
I can only presume the S1322 is not actually for the PVR721, but it kinda works. Maybe there is a closer match...

I wrote up the procedure for creating upgrades here:
http://www.slingcommunity.com/article/10580/
If all you want to do is customize an existing upgrade, you can also import your existing bin files into RM and edit them.
How do you "read" the IR codes from your existing remote currently?
I have seen a Palm application that would read IR codes and display them in ASCII on screen, but the link is now gone from the site (should have downloaded it when I did not think I needed it...).
In the JP1 world, we learn the signals from the OEM remote using a JP1 learning remote like the "One For All" URC-8811, then we download the memory using one of the JP1 programs and it tells us what the signals look like. It will tell us what the protocol is, what device codes are used and what command codes are used. We then use this info to build an upgrade for the device.
You can also use the Philips Pronto, though it's alot more expensive. With the Pronto you learn the signals, then download the memory to your PC and save it as a CCF file. In the JP1 world, we often download CCF files from Remote Central and decode them to get the code info we need.
In your case, you don't need to capture the original signals as we have plenty of upgrade files for Dish PVRs, so I'm pretty sure that we have all the buttons covered.
I have followed your links and am still stuck on how to create the .bin file. I will send you and email and explain my dumbness.
I got your email and I created some bin files for you. However, the reason why you'd really want to do this yourself is so you can lay out the buttons exactly how you want them.
As it turns out - Slingmedia ended-up suggesting I find the IR control codes for the 721 through this forum.
The Robman helped me out and I have finally made my own code - based on a working S1322 code with customization.
As my unit is set to #4 - and is a JU type, it may be that what I created is not going to work for a #1 unit. And obviously it will not work for a PL type.
Either way it is done.
Congrats Mini. As you have discovered, if you change the remote address of your PVR, you need to change the remote code accordingly, so if your unit is set to address #4, the upgrade also needs to be set to unit code 4. If you wanted to tailor your upgrade to work for others, you'd just have to reset the unit code.
As most people probably don't know if they have a PL or a JU box, I recommend that people just create both types of bin file (ie, select the JU version in RM, then save the bin file, then selec the PL version and create another bin file).
Just FYI, the PL and JU tags refer to the UEI "remote control" chip that's built into the Slingbox, AFAIK the Slingboxes themselves are otherwise identical.
<<So when is Dish going to add their custom maps for this?>>
I don't follow, do you mean Sling?
Robman, Yeah that's what I meant. I'd be willing to send my IR remote control to Jeremy for a couple days.
I don't think that will be necessary as we have all the Dish codes in various JP1 upgrade files, so it's just a question of loading them into the Sling, which is something you can do also, by the way.
Robman,
So you have a way for us to load the actual codes for the 942 box? Is there a how2 on doing that?
Thanks,
Brian
Way too complicated for my tiny brain. Here's how I got my DVR 942 to work with Slingbox, and access the DVR menu:
1. Skip any advice on this forum for complex "Remote Master" programming (unless you're a hobbyist).
2. Upgrade to the latest Slingbox software
3. Go into Slingbox Setup
4. When it gets to the "Television Source" screen, pick "Satellite Receiver" NOT "DVR".
5. On the "Device Brand" screen, pick "EchoStar/Dish Network"
6. On the "Device Model" screen, pick "DVR522"
7. Roll through the rest of the setup screens
8. Once into Slingbox, the "Menu" button will access the DVR menu.
Voila!
Which .bin file do you use for the 942? I would like to use the one that is setup for the 522 and add two buttons to it. This should be simple, but...
I have a new Dish Network 2 tuner DVR 942 receiver and I still haven't been given a clear simple way to get a code that works. Please Help. I don't want to have to send my Sling Box back.
Set your 942 up as a Sat Receiver->Dish Network->522
It will work, but you can't use the stretch or search features as those buttons aren't on the remote (see my earlier post).
Thanks, I actually found out from a tech that the "other" codes: S1322, S1775 and S0775 work as well. Now the problem I have is that I am controlling the #1 tuner with my Sling remote on my dual tuner receiver. I don't have a way to connect to that output. I need the remote to connect to the #2 tuner. Does anyone know how to control the remote on the #2 tuner with these codes?
You have to put your 942 in single mode by pressing the mode button on the front of the unit. You cannot control TV2 with your slingbox, since TV2 only works with your uhf remote control. This is a big limitation and show-stopper if you must run your unit in dual mode. If you ever figure out how to send the signals for the "*" and "#" keys to it, please let me know.
