It's questions like this that really matter. I'm glad to see I'm not the only Big Lebowski fan around here.

Are you asking because you don't know, or because you're quizzing everyone else?

September 28, 2005 10:25 PM

42

42! It's got to be way higher than that!

My well educated guess... 281. However, It may be more if the F word is written anywhere in the credits.

Now what exactly has come to light?

September 28, 2005 11:46 PM

The answer is 398 (including variants) via

Odd, IMDB has a count of 281 for the word F*ck and it's variations quote unquote.

That's where I got my info from. I guess the only way to know for sure is to actually count them while watching the movie.

Does anyone have a few hours to kill?

I'll let you know tomorrow after I stock up on the microwave popcorn.

I just bought a slingbox. Opened it yesterday to set it up and noticed that on the packaging there is a short message that says:

Lebowski
37

It's on the Welcome to the Future of Television box. Did anyone else notice this?

What does this mean? I know the people over at Sling like the movie (it mentions Lebowski on their job boards), but are they trying to tell us somthing?

Interesting...

Check out the article:

Blake:
This requirement pushed us to create some very unique stream optimization technology, which we had code-named Lebowski. We since have had to call it SlingStream, but I'm fighting my marketing guy to get it put back to Lebowski because it's my favorite movie. Lebowski dynamically adjusts the video stream to work within any sort of bandwidth constraints or any type of network connections that exist. So with 802.11b, which, if you're lucky, gets around 800Kbps sustainable throughput, Lebowski will work just fine because we've also done quite a bit on optimizing the video encoding to get it as high quality as we can at those low bit rates. Sometimes you're down to 100K sustained and other times maybe you're closer to the access point getting closer to 1.5 meg. We want to provide users with a very smooth video stream that requires no adjusting. Lebowski works within the bursty networks that really exist. You just have to deal with them. The video stream actually will get smaller, if you will, and the bit rate and frame rate will automatically change. A variety of parameters will automatically change based on how much throughput you have available.

I wonder what the 37 stands for on the packaging? Anyone?

I am sure you have seen the forums changes. Well back when this forum 'Off-topics" was setup I got to be the first to post something in it. So gotta resurect this original thread. :)

If you are a Sling Media history buff, you may know about the Lebowski Mode and the #37 on the boxes.

If not check out this article regarding Lebowski mode.

You may have also noticed the "Lebowski 37" on the box when you got your slingplayer. If not haul it out, and look at it, it's there somewhere. :)

In conjunction with the #37, what does it mean avatar I am using. what's that about you ask?
Far as I know there never has been an "official" reason posted for the #37. So I am bringing it up in my Avatar, just for fun, using the #23 movie as a template.

Anyway, Care to guess what the #37 means? I have an idea, but will wait to see other's response first. ;)

I saw the Lebowski 37 on the back of my sling box, so I googled it and this site came up. More curious I clicked images, and found an interesting website. Hmm..

Me too.
But,  It's amazing that this thread was resurected.  It was my first post on SC.  September 28, 2005 07:49 PM.
A lot has changed since then. Like 10,000 more SC members. Smile

Every year or so something reminds me about this post. If anyone is interested (probably not) it was my first post here almost 3 years ago.
It looks like http://www.lebowski37.com/ is still alive (kinda) and has evolved just like the Slingbox has. That it doesn't hurt to remind folks about the Big Lebowski tie-in. :)

But, back on topic.... Does Jarhead contain more words?
