I have the exact same request. I do the same thing. I know it seems like an odd request, but since many of your sling users are using complicated Home Theater systems, this is probably common.

Thanks for the new feature in 1.0.4.96+ where we can now easily switch the input, under "Slingbox > Video Input". For example in my case I swith all the time between:
> Coaxial/RF: Dish Network Satellite (Live) and
> Composite: ReplayTV DVR
I also have a way to control 5 devices with one Slingbox (as described in http://lazybastard.ehuna.org/archives/000139.html ).
With this in mind, I would really enjoy if I could switch between multiple composite settings, something like:
> Coaxial/RF: Dish Network Satellite (Live) and
> Composite: ReplayTV DVR
> Composite: Sony 400 DVD Changer
> Composite: Xbox
> Composite: etc...
I know this is a bit more advanced for many of your customers, but for the power users this feature would rock! I wouldn't even mind if I had to configure the above manually somehow.
Hope this helps and please give my congratulations to the whole team - once again I'm really impressed by the speed and quality of your work!
link seems broken,
how are you doing the IR repeater thing, are you using multiple ins?
There was an extra parenthesis at the end of the link. Check it out now:
Controlling multiple devices with one Slingbox

This capability to switch between different remote profiles would be an incredible asset to me also. I use a switch box and have four devices I switch behind that. The setup wizard is too big a hassle to go through every time for me.
If you do end up doing this, please allow me to choose channels other than 2-4 (or whatever it currently allows). I have many of my sources in UHF channels (as is common in multi-modulator whole house viewing).

YES!
Please do this as well. I've got multiple sources on a modulated signal and would love to be able to switch remotes by channel!
Another vote for this feature. I'd like multiple Coax/RF configurations. Then I could use one connection from my Tivo to the Slingbox. When the Tivo is on, I would use the Tivo configuration. When the Tivo is off, I would just use the passthrough on Tivo to the Slingbox tuner and use my cable settings.
I requested this back in October, but my request was probably a little confusing. http://www.slingcommunity.com/forum/t...
I'll offer some possible ways for Slingmedia to think about. They might be able to create an external switch box, or various models with various configurations and interface this through the IR port. Have the IR port plug into the switch box and the switchbox repeat the IR port. With a little trickery, they MAY be able to use unused IR codes for your particular installation to control the switch. The commands for the switch would be programmable.
The "IR" commands to the switch would not be via Infared light.
So, if your system was configured to control equipment X and you didn't own equipment Y, then equipment Y's commands could be configured to control the switch.
They then could create pseudo channels like A, B, C etc, which would send the appropriate "IR" codes and change the channel, Cable, ANT, Source on the Slingbox and the appropriate source on the switch.
The tough part would be how to configure the switch.
A way to quickly switch between remotes (or to set up multiple remotes simultaneously) would be a fantastic feature!
I have the same Sony 400-disc DVD changer and a TiVo entering the Line1 and Line2 inputs on my Samsung VCR/DVD. The output from the VCR goes to the Slingbox, then to the TV. Essentially using the VCR/DVD as a switch with the different Line inputs. Changing remotes is quite a drawback to this kind of setup.
Use this Box from radio Shack 4-In 2-Out IR Learning A/V Switchbox Model: 15-1927
Catalog #: 15-1927. You can switch from for different devices. Although you will have to use the wizard to change the ir remotes.
Here here again!
I desparately need such a feature myself, heres my setup -
I have a UK Sky (Amstrad unit) digital satellite receiver, a Packard Bell Easy HDD Recorder (DVR + DVD recorder in one) and the slingbox UK PAL.
The sky box signal goes to the DVR, DVR out goes to the slingbox, is split by a scart cable to the telly.
The stupid thing is that I have to go back into the wizard and reconfigure the remote control for the box I wish to control remotely. This must be an extremely common requirement.
No WAY are these two completely differing units are ever able to be controlled with one physical remote control, so why oh why OH WHY did you not anticipate the need for people to use more than one remote for their setups?
Annoyingly, if you look at the 'Remote' dropdown on the SlingRemote window, it shows the device with a bullet point next to it. This implies that you can indeed select between two remotes because the solitary entry is 'selected', but you cannot.
So, call it a priority update from here on out!? Many thanks!

Please, can we get this? I have been asking for this since launch date. It is the only thing that still causes me problems all the time. I can't watch all my stuff. (I also can't pick a high numbered channel either by the way.)
Come on guys, every month I come back and ask for this one feature. It isn't that hard, and it would make my sling box so much more useful. (Even though it is dead right now due to bad power supply, with a replacement that is shipping now...)

Count me in. I too have the Radio Shack 4-in 2-out IR switch box with 4 devices attached (Cable stb, ReplayTV, DVD player, VCR). I have the switch set up to respond to some unused buttons on the cable remote. I'd love to be able to view all of my devices remotely.
Question,
I recently got the 15-1927 RS box, but here' smy delimna -- my video cameras are all composite type, and the inputs on the box is component type. How do you get around that (the output to device is also component type, which can't go into the slingbox, can it?)
