The code you're looking for is S1377. It isn't perfect, but you can do power and change channels.

Thanks. Something is better than nothing

I have found you can also use the menu functions to get to the My VOD screen (same as pressing the "list" button which is not available via Sling). From there you can watch recorded programs.

I have not found a way to get to the To-Do List, or to the prioritizer. The To-Do list only appears to be accessible by using the yellow button while in the MyVOD screen. There is not a menu option to go there, and you can only get to the prioritizer from the To-Do screen.

So although a bit cumbersome, with menus you can use the R15 with the Slingbox for everything except editing the To-Do List or Prioritizer entries. That may or may not be critical to your use of the R15, depending on how many series recordings you do.

I look forward to a hopefully rapid implementation of the complete new DirecTV remote in the Sling software.

I have been able to get to everything on the R15 through menus, except the "Active" channel.

The following information is from a thread on a different forum. I don't know how to implement these additional functions, but perhaps this information will help someone at Sling develop a remote for the R15:

"If you were to get either a One-For-All urc-8910, 9910, or 9960. The R15 code is only a phone call away. The code to ask for is SAT 1377. Once you have code 1377 on board, here some advanced codes for missing commands:

Active-075
Red-008
Green-024
Yellow-032
Blue-240
Back-251"

So how about it Sling? Any suggestions on how we can implement these?

Thanks,
Carl

You have the ability to add a code for the R15 yourself, and make it include all the buttons you want.

Hi,

We're working on this at the office as well, should have a working code this week.

Best,
Jeremy

Thanks Robman. I played around with RM and the Sling rdf file for awhile, but never figured out all of the subtleties of making the desired changes, and ran out of time to play with it.

I look forward to what Sling Media puts together. Thank you JeremyT for your reply.

Jeremy,

All of us little Lebowski urban acheivers that bought the Sling & DirecTV R15 DVR are in need are the following codes added to the S1377 D10 Sling UEI PL chip code bin file:

List-099
Active-075
Red-008
Green-024
Yellow-032
Blue-240
Back-251

Tried using JP1 RM but cant get the "extra" key skin to appear. It would be nice if someone could explain when using RM how to force the 4th or "extra" button panel skin to appear in the Sling software. Probably in the SBAV.CFG file...

but hey dude short of a new release...it shouldn't be difficult to add those codes and issue a functional RMDU or BIN file with instructions for deployment.

I'm going to bump this back up in the hopes that maybe Jeremy or Robman can provide an update on the R15 remote capability.

If it will help, I would be glad to send an R15 remote to use.

Is there an official fix for the R15 as yet?

January 24, 2006 6:51 PM

Not yet. They are working on it though. There is an R15 remote in the beta software, but there are some problems with it, so for the time being I would stay with the production version of slingplayer and use the Sat1377 remote.
-
As soon as the new beta software goes production, you will have a full R15 remote (or at least you should). I know they are working on it, and are aware of the problems with the beta version.

This is a really frustrating wait. December 5th was the last official word that the code would be ready in a week. Now it's almost February. What's the latest word? Sorry to sound impatient, but all signals indicated a "quickish" fix. If bug fixes are realistically going to take much longer, please don't get our hopes up that it will only take a week and then disappear from the forum with no update. It makes me wonder how serious Slingmedia is about their customers (early adopters at that!)...

I helped Sling debug and fine tune a DirecTV R15 remote for the beta software. It is now almost (but not quite) perfect, but very usable.

I have their permission to share the beta R15 remote with others. It only works with the new beta version of slingplayer, not the .107 production version.

If you would like a copy of the beta R15 remote, please send me a private message (PM) with your email address and I will send you the files and instructions. Sling requests that if you find any issues or problems with it, that you notify them - I'll include the appropriate email with the remote. You can send a PM by clicking on my name and then selecting to send a PM.

As to why it took so long to get here, I suspect that the initial indication in December did not take into account the workload they had getting ready for CES, and now they are so burried in getting the beta software finalized, they are not putting effort into improving the .107 version. Just conjecture on my part.

I don't have any other remote updates, just the one for the DirecTV R15, so am not able to help out anyone else.

Carl,

I look forward to the files -- thanks so much! You are probably right about the need to divert all resources to ramping up for CES and such, but it would be a good sign to see life from the Sling Media gang on these forums (particularly after having already contributed to a thread) to restore some confidence in the product and company that has been lost among my small gang of Slingsters, primarily due to non-communication. For example, this experience leaves us wary about the much anticipated release date of the Mac SlingPlayer client, which has been announced for release sometime in the second quarter.

Fingers crossed. :)

Carl,

Thanks so much for the files -- they seem to be working just fine! I'm an old school TiVo gal, so the DirecTV DVR interface was a bit of a challenge for me to get used to. It took me awhile to figure out the fine details, like creating its equivalent of a Season's Pass. Since a pal of mine set me up in the states, I was flying without a seatbelt until I got the manual for the R15 and its DVR online. Here's the direct link to the PDF, if anyone else is in the same situation: http://tinyurl.com/ao8xt.

cheers,

I was about to leave my house and go buy a Slingbox when I saw that the Direct TV R15 was not supported. I was just about to give up on buying one when I saw this post. I have PM'ed you Carl and look forward to the files. Thank You. I am now leaving my house to go get a Slingbox to give it a try.

March 6, 2006 6:53 PM

I got my new Slingbox home and found that the remote for the R15 is included in the latest beta version. It seems to work sweet right out of the box. I was all worried for nothing. lol
