Well,
I am also in the US right now. I will go home on 4th of January and take the Slingbox with me. I know that it will work, because I have a friend who has done the same thing.
The channels that are available
BBC 1-4 (+2BBC channels for children)
ITV 1-3
Channel4
Channel5
ITV NEWS
SKY NEWS
BBC NEWS 24
EURONews
etc.
I will be able to use a 384k upstream line initially, but if you really need more and can offer the same, I can upgrade to 512k.
I can also get German TV stations (ARD, ZDF, RTL, PRO7, SAT1, etc)
this isnt even fair trade, my friend. =) I have 80 channels, and you only have ???
great reply.
well, it's just an offer. also, i only listed the good channels. the overall number of channels is probably at more than 100.
anyway, i am only offering something here. if you don't want it, just don't take it. easy as that.
maybe someone wants it for the contents and not just the amount of channels.
Stefan:
I'm VERY interested in your offer! I have Dish Network with the AT180 package of channels, including the Chicago locals.

I can hook you up with a pvr, so you can record stuff and watch it at a more convenient time.

Dave.
The SlingCommunity Team would like to remind the Community that the End User License Agreement states that it is a violation to share a Finder ID, or allow access to anyone who does not reside in the same residence as the Slingbox. To avoid violating this agreement, we suggest that those who wish to test view the Slingbox do so at a local electronics store or in the company of the Slingbox owner. Sling Media is in the process of working on a demo which will allow users to "test-drive" the Slingbox; availability will be announced at SlingCommunity.com.
I do not understand the verbiage from sling's Lisc agreement -- basically, you paid for the box and internet access -- why cant you share the box, huh? *scratches his head*
It's a pretty touchy issue. There's been quite a bit of debate on page 2 of this thread:

Stefan - I'm also in the US and running a SB from the UK (Sky) at 256K. It's OK but could do with more bandwidth - can you suggest any vendors in UK to increase to 386k or 512k?
I myself would like to know how much more about ways to solve the problem versus just saying no. Stefan P if you are still interested in swapping, I would be more than happy to do it. Please feel free to contact me at afissucks@comcast.net.
A side note, after reading the link to the other post I am going with the laywer and his point of view as he has the expertise to evaluate this from all angles versus the cable installer guy who is the company man.
How's that for a slice of fried gold?

One way around the issue of 'theft' http://www.slingcommunity.com/forum/t... might be this:
Although I have cable in the UK, I could install an additional dish and set top box, which I could then connect to SlingBox. A guy in the US would be able to order a Sky viewing card via a friend or relative's UK address - it would belong to him, and he would be paying for it.
Sky's position on grey market viewing cards is more relaxed than its counterparts in the US and Canada - see http://www.legal-rights.org Tens of thousands of people in Spain alone watch Sky, even though officially speaking, they shouldn't. Not only that, but many also watch it on communal systems, which is basically theft as the satellite installer gets one viewing card for an entire block and feeds the signal into everyone's home.
Another possibility in the UK might be digital terrestrial TV. Freeview isn't subsription-funded - all you need is a £40 box, and you get the UK terrestrial channels that Stefan P listed. I think many people who'd like UK TV via SlingBox would be more keen on getting the five main terrestrial channels than on Sky (even in Europe, as the BBC now uses a much weaker satellite signal) but if they want Sky channels (particularly Sky Sports) then Freeview won't be enough.
Stefan P!!!! I need to watch Manchester Utd and Sheffield Utd!!!! Halp Me!!!!!!! TRade you Hockey and Basketball and Golf!

I have sky tv, all packages including all sky sports.
im looking to possibly trade with someone from the US who has ABC etc.

I want UK TV.
BBC and Channel4 programming is some of the best in the world.
Cant wait for the PAL version
A version of slingbox that could directly receive UK FREEVIEW digital broadcasts ( +30 free channels ) would be great. I dont need any of that SKY TV rubbish personally.
wow.. i'd be willing to pay big bucks to have UK tv.. wanna offer your box? please email me
