Hi,

Im currently in the middle of developing the hardware and software to control slingplayer via a remote. How many people are interested in purchasing when its completed (1-3 weeks).

I have been using a remote from keyspan for a few months now. It is perfect for controling my tivo over the slingbox, output to my TV. You need to program it, but after that is works very welll. It is just like being home. (The US that is!) Price is around $30.

gunther,

I just got a keyspan. To save me the time of programming it, could you send me your "Slingplayer.exe" map file?

You should find this file in "C:\Program Files\Keyspan\Remote" and it should be something that ends in ".map".

Send me a private message and I'll give you my email.

Gunther sent me a private message, but I had already created the right map file.

For those interested in controlling their ReplayTV through a SlingPlayer with a remote, I wrote an article:

I purchased a keyspan remote also, but its missing a very key feature ... where are the bloody number keys on the remote control? lol - whose heard of a remote without number keys? :|

The ATI All-In-Wonder remote that comes with their video card should work too (the infrared model).

I wonder if anyone has figured out the codes yet?
If not I'll have to add another item to my "to-do" list.

- Andy, would definetly consider buying your remote once the PAL UK version of slingbox is released. Would your remote be configurable to use with a Sky + box?

-Edit found this website: http://www.letsautomate.com/11076.cfm?

unfortunatly the person i was buying the IR receivers from has screwed me over and not sent the items, so im in a battle to get my money back. Before i can finish the software i will need to buy IR receivers from somewhere else.

you might consider purchasing http://www.keyspan.com/products/usb/r... it will work with slingplayer - ive used it myself, take a look here http://www.lommage.co.uk/slingbox/ind... theres a video of me using the remote control to control sky digital. Also check other threads on this forum on how the keyspan remote control works.

Andrew

(ps it will work with sky+ but only if you can confiugre your slingbox to work with sky+).

andyBBB,

I have a crazy idea...all this programming is downright ridiculous. All you guys are trying to do is to repeat what the remote control do...All the code etc miles away.

Isn't it simple if the IR receiver or the RF receiver can just relay the code from the original remote, transmit the code as a passthrough using the slingplayer/slingbox and send the same code back out through the slinbox set up. All the user need is to carry the original remote to go on the trip.

Sound simple but is it doable?

January 10, 2006 3:40 PM

Not overly, because the remote control you have might not have the same codes as the one your input would recognize. Talking apples and oranges to one another.

andyBBB,

No. I am talking about the original remote to the set top box. The one that you use at home to control the set top box. Whichever set top you have connected to the slingbox. For example I have a Comcast Motorola DCT6208 and the remote I have is the Comcast remote for the same model.

Now I take the same remote for the DCT6208 to go on the road. Point the remote to the laptop in a hotel and click. The IR/RF Receiver (USB) take the code, hand it to slingplayer and passthrough back to the slingbox in order to flash the IR emitter to pass the code to the set top box.

Remote IR

DCT6208 -> code -> hand to -> code -----|

Hotel in laptop |

Motorola Slingbox |
DCT6208 <- code <- hardware <--------|
Set top Box 123 pass code
receive to emitter
same code

Hope the diagram make sense.

Anyone figure out how to get the ATI Remote Wonder working with the slingplayer software

January 22, 2006 8:59 AM

Continuing along the PC remote for Slingplayer line, has anyone seen a slingplayer profile for the FireFly remote posted anywhere? I have searched the FireFly forums, but not found one. I am able to get some of the keys to work but not a complete mapping.

January 22, 2006 1:50 PM

Dlaw, i understand now, not a bad idea at all, maybe suggest it to slingmedia team? it would have to work with the firmware u c, something a modder cant really access.

Of course, you wouldnt have the remote control at home .. also i think the ir codes are updated onto the slingbox during setup, maybe there is a reason for that? the way the IR blaster interfaces with the slingbox.
