Hi,
Im currently in the middle of developing the hardware and software to control slingplayer via a remote. How many people are interested in purchasing when its completed (1-3 weeks).

My website featuring more slingbox help is at www.butkus.co.uk
Reading through the Keyspan remote documentation, I found a section that describes using a JVC VCR remote instead of the keyspan remote.
Here is a remote I've used successfully, and it has NUMBERS!

Hello all, this is my first post on this board. :-) I'm quite a road warrior. I'm a stand-up comic, and a highly competent Techie, and I travel a ton. I have my slingplayer working on my hotel TV with a remote. My Hotel Entertainment System (as I call it) is very advanced. It includes:
Inspiron 600m, fully loaded
Output to the Hotel TV (via S-Video, RCA, or RF Channel 3/4)
Simulated surround sound (via Audigy PCMCIA card, and Virgin Electronics Boomtube EX)
Hotel Cable TV on DVR with on screen guide (via WinTV USB2 PVR, and Snapstream BeyondTV)
Game Emulators (Atari, Nintendo, Super Nintendo with SNES style control pads)
DVD, Videos, Music, and other media
Organized with Meedio
Operated with All For One JP1 Remote
And my newest Edition to the System, SLINGPLAYER :-)
Here is how I was able to customize the remote. The WinTV USB2 device comes with a built in IR and remote. First thing I did was throw out their remote. Got myself a JP1 All For One 8910. The cool thing about WinTV is that the IR is very customizable. There is an irremote.ini in your windows directory. In the beginning of the file it maps all the buttons to NEC1 commands, which not only tells you the exact codes you need to map to your new remote, it also allows you to add codes. So I added a couple codes since my remote has more buttons than the original. I uploaded these codes to my remote with a JP1 cable. Then further down in the ini file you can tell it what buttons do what in whatever application you want. So I first add slingplayer to the application list and then I map the keyboard shortcuts listed in the slingplayer menu to the buttons, and I'm done. Everything works great.
The instructions above are very general, since I'm in a rush, but if anyone would like detailed instructions, I will post plenty with links, but since this solution requires a WinTV USB2 PVR for the IR to work, I imagine most people wont go this route.
My hotel room ROCKS

ATI Remote Wonder definitely works!! You need to assign a few buttons in the application, that's all! I can now sit in from of my TV (TV out from laptop) and control my TiVo in Orlando, FL from Birmingham UK....just like my UK TiVo....amazing!!

Yes
hi all , I play with sling at work too and there are times i wish there was a confirm on exit or stop playing setting, my big fingers always hit the off button by mistake. yes i would be intertested in the remote also and could you control more than one device with the program.
anyone know if it would be possible to use any of these remotes with the IR sensor on the new macbook pro's? I know sling isnt mac ready yet but when it is this would be nice to have.
i bought a slingbox pro and for some reason it has ceased to bring up the correct direct tv rc 32 picture i need to remote control it....
instead it brings up slingboxes' generic remote control picture
can anybody tell me how i can reset sling box to bring up my direct tv RC 32 remote contoller picture?
If your remote has a menu icon on it click on it and make sure it says Directv remote not the generic one.
