I just ordered my Slingbox today and had a question pop in to my head. I have a DirecTV with built in Tivo, when someone logs in to the Slingbox, will it affect what I am seeing on my TV screen? As in, will I have to watch what the logged in person is watching?

Hope that was worded in such a way as it makes sense to more than just me *laugh*

Thanks in advance
Sean

Yes you will see what the logged in person is seeing (depending on who is faster with the remote) but you can also have a feed directly from your TV source (e.g., if DirecTV provides a coax out that isn't impacted by TiVo). Not sure about your specific set-up so maybe a DirecTV user can comment on how they get around this aspect of Sling.

The only way you could watch independently is if you have a totally separate receiver or dvr connected to the slingbox.

Any DirecTV dvr has only one video output stream, whether it is on the s-video, video, or coax feed it is all the same stream. So if you connect a slingbox to it, it is the same as sitting next to the other person in the same room but holding 2 different remote controls.
