Hi, I've had my slingbox for several months and am having a great time. Ive even hooked up a remote camera to watch in my basement online. here's the thing...I have an old X10 camera system, whereby I can switch from one camera to another at vairous sites around the house. The only problem is that I need to use X10 codes to swicth off from one camera to another (i.e. at home I have a remote control where I can press a button for camera 1, 2, 3, etc). Does anyone know if there is any way to control X10 devices at home using slingbox? Some sort of interface from the slingbox to the electrical outlets.

Thanks, Keep on Slingin'!!

First of all, sorry for my previous blank reply; I'm a little confused on how to properly edit replies on this board.

Anyway, I have the same need as HJ and I would also like to control other devices. I already have the IR receiver module and use it with various IR remotes.

I understand more or less how to add devices using the JP1 protocol and the RemoteMaster application. I have downloaded several text files for the X-10 protocol from which I created binary files for the Slingbox and loaded them into the configuration.

Although I've been able to get the Slingbox to send something to the IR receiver (the light blinks on the receiver) I cannot figure out how to configure a meaningful remote and send the right codes. The Slingbox always brings up a  simple, generic VCR type remote when I don't select a specific manufacturer. None of the built in remotes seem to apply to my situation.

Can anyone advise me how to complete this little project. I feel I'm so close but can't quite put it all together.

TIA!

x10 uses radio signal. this should be easy. x10 has all the software in which u can control y'all devices. why not use the software to control these devices seperately? yes, u can control 'em remotely, too.

There are easier ways to do this than using a SlingBox to send x10 commands over the web.

It's been a few years, but I put together a simple web interface (using X10's Firecracker transmitter) to pan cameras, turn on lights, dim rooms, etc.).

Why would you want to use a slingbox to do this?  Firecracker is much better suited for this purpose.

X10 does use RF to control their devices. I use a IR=>RF converter to do this. You can get them from X10 (look for IR543). This device is handy for my Harmony 880 to also control X10.

Okay, I have the IR543. How do I get Slingbox to send the correct IR codes to it to work the X10 camera's, lights etc..

Any Ideas?
