My cable box at home allows Closed caption within its own box. Just do not see the setting feature on the remote.
Is there a way to access this from the slinbox remote?

Hello,
I'm new here. I've read several messages especially KenW's concerning closed captions and I'm joining the boat to help KenW push Slingbox to add the closed captioning feature as soon as possible.
I have not purchase Slingbox yet because I know it won't be worth it without the closed captioning clause as part of the deal.
The $$$ is in my personal piggybank waiting to be spent on Slingbox. It is currently earning interest so please make it happen! I'm desperate.
Thanks for listening and y'all have a great weekend!
I would love closed captioning as well. There are certain situations where I can't have sound on my slingbox..classes*cough* where some closed captioning would be nice.
This is a big gap in Slingbox's client software. I recall from an earlier post that they have committed to including this feature in a future release.
I can't help but wonder if they have a compliance issue with the American's With Disabilities Act.
This is not a compliance issue. However you can just put this box inline with your video to get closed captioning if needed:http://www.marilynelectronics.net/pro...

Thanks for the idea. It's out of my cost range. Think I'll wait for Sling to provide it ...
I miss also the SAP key in the sling remote.
I am brazilian, live in Germany and use a slingbox located in my friend's house in Brazil, to see brazilian cable TV. The problem is, many many american shows are transmitted there with portuguese translation (hiding the original audio) and I just hate that. I miss the SAP key so much.
We really need closed captions. This is a basic fucntion. Not having it is not acceptable.
It would make it easier for me to recommend Slingbox to many of my friends who wishes to watch USTV via CC... I can help sell at least 5 slingbox with this one feature!
Does anyone know anything about closed captioning (technologically speaking). Im curious if it even could be implemented on the current version of the slingbox is capable of it, or if it would need a special tuner? Just curious, thanks
I just can't avoid this topic. Dear SlingMedia, your product is really INTERNATIONAL by all possible means! Is the "closed captioning" not a First feature should be implemented in the box? There are so many people in the world will gain possibility to learn foreign languages. This is the only option to make your product really attractive for those people! Please, add this feature, we (foreign people of Earth) are in extreme need of it!
No question about it -- "Closed Captioning" is a DEFINITE requirement of the software.
Does the version 1.01 UK release have captions? Jeremy said the US release is close and I hope they provided this critical enhancement ...
Unfortunately, closed captioning is not in the build yet. Please know it's simply not as easy as it is for a TV tuner card (for example) to enable this functionality. It requires a lot of testing and QA to get it right, and we are still working on it. I've been told by engineering it should happen in Q3 of this year, but no additional details beyond that at present. Please know it IS on the radar and does have engineering's attention already. I'm not saying not to voice your opinion here, at all, but we know it is a requirement and we are working on it. Thanks for understanding, Jeremy
Yeah riiiiiiiigghttt! Keep in mind I'm hearing impaired and I'm pretty sure I speak for all the deafies, those with broken ears and any others who may want to use captions for their own benefit whether their hearing db are at 10s, 40s or at 90s, that are still twindle-dindling their thumbs. Last time I checked, the issue was posted 6 months ago and I don't see any progress. I'm not trying to put you down but try imagine especially deafies feeling like 2nd class citizens when it comes to not providing captions in the slingbox. I still think Slingbox is a great product but it's not complete without captions. Captions to deafies is like fish is to water. We can't live without it. I know many hearing are enjoying the product and I have seen plenty of positive remarks from reviews. That's what makes it so frustrating for me and I'm sure many deafies are feeling the same thing right now.
Just
ignore me because I can often vent at times when I feel like a 2nd
class citizen but I must realize that a 2nd class citizen is far
better than an illegal alien so you gotta count the blessings. I do
appreciate the progress you're working with the engineers. It's better
than doing nothng so I look forward for any new updates and I'm sure
y'all will succeed eventually. Can't wait!

I'll apologize ahead of time... Water can't survive without fish???
Sorry, couldn't resist it...
Slinging Tivo Series 2, Tivo HD, and TW cable from a Pro. Slinging Tivo HD from a Solo, Slinging Humax DRT800, and TW cable from a Classic to Sprint Mogul, AT&T SX66, N62, 8525, and Dell Inspiron 8600 with Sprint EVDO over Windstream DSL.
Yeah I agree... CC would be a great feature for deaf people. Im not deaf, but my girlfriend is and this is the one reason why im holding out on buying this slingbox. We need this ASAP!!!! CC is a must!
I am a realtime captioner and wanted to use Sling to view the captions on shows that I do remotely. So I hooked up a caption "decoder" to the Sling and it works great. I see captions on everything.
You can find used decoders relatively cheap on eBay. I bought mine for $25. It works great.
