What's up with no current support for the Cing 8125 (aka HTC Wizard)? I thought barring the CDMA difference the 8125 and the 6700 were the same unit. And what about the Imate and MDA?

I am truly bummed I have to wait.

MDA is supported

Index,

We are working on it, I'm not sure the exact technical reason for the problem, but it only surfaced recently. Hopefully we'll be able to issue an update in the very short term that will address it.

I-Mates are supported, which device are you talking about?

Best,
Jeremy

Hey Jeremy,

I was talking about the KJam which I think is also another incarnation of the HTC Wizard. Bottom line I have the Cingular 8125. So I guess I have to wait. Still bummed all the same. Thanks for the info it is much appreciated.

I'll be looking for the update.

I have a Cingular 8125 and had an issue with it not connecting.. Want to know how I fixed it? Go into
Settings - Connections Tab - Connections - Manage Existing Connections - Then Select the Proxy Settings Tab
Uncheck "This network uses a proxy server to connect to the Internet". That should get you up and running. I know Cingular says you need the proxy to connect but I've done without it and I have no issues connecting with my 8125.

Hey Jeremy or anyone else who can help, please help me. I have a Treo 700w. Everytime I install the sling mobile software I get this message "Error 1904.Module C:\Program Files\Sling Media\Slingplayer Mobile\Slingmedia Sync DLL.dll failed to register - HRESULT 2147220473." It goes through the rest of the install and when I try to connect it "Locates" for a while and soon after says "unable to connect to slingbox." My PC slingbox and player work flawlessly. Do you have any idea why I am getting this error or how to fix it? Thanks so much.

JC - I was trying it over WiFi and got the "no connection issue". I have un-installed but will re-install and give it a try.

rde34,

I had the same thing happen to me on install "Error 1904.Module C:\Program Files\Sling Media\Slingplayer Mobile\Slingmedia Sync DLL.dll failed to register - HRESULT 2147220473."

I thought that was maybe why it did not work in Cing 8125. But you have a different device so wonder what that is all about?

I found the Proxy issue was a problem with a lot of my programs not working which use streaming technology. I can get my 8125 to work on the WiFi, but I'm still having problems with it being choppy and connection being lost after a few minutes. Maybe thats why they said no support until version 1.0 is out. I do know that Cingular did have a firmware update for the 8125 and a few phones did make it out with the old firmware. Also found problems with a VPN client I had on the phone giving problems with internet sometimes as well.

JC,

What update to Cing 8125? If there is an update how do you get it? What version are you running?
Mine is:
ROM ver: 1.8.11.1 WWE
ROM date: 11/24/05
Radio: 01.09.11
Prot: 4.0.13.20
ExtROM: 1.8.11.103

I am aware of the proxy issue mine is always off.

That is the same version I am running on. I've been through 3 8125 phones, the first one kept killing SIM chips, the second locked up and would not boot pass the splash screen. Finally my current one works (cross fingers), when I spoke with our companies account rep at Cingular he had told me there was some units with an older firmware and to contact him if I had any further issues and he'll look into the firmware for me.

How about the Audiovox SMT5600 Smartphone? I just purchased Slingbox and getting "Installation failed because SlingmobileBETA.cab is not intended for this device" when I attemted to install on the phone.

The current version of Slingplayer Mobile available will only work on Pocket PC devices. If you read the Slingplayer Mobile press release from Sling Media, you will find the following quote:

"The SlingPlayer Mobile software available today is compatible with devices that run Windows Mobile Pocket PC 5.0 and 2003 Second Edition. Sling Media will also deliver a version for non-touchscreen devices based on Windows Mobile Smartphone within the next month."

Hello: I just got a HTC TYTN and have this same problem. The only way to fix it is to uncheck the proxy as stated above. Any fixes in the works?

From what people are saying, the problem is with Cingular's streaming issue when the use proxy setting is checked. I wouldn't expect a fix from sling networks if that's what you mean. The problem is Cingular's.. Though, as long as you can access the sites you need without using a proxy, then I wouldn't worry about it.

Congrats on the TYTN, I'm tempted to jump to Cing because the TYTN works out of the box with their 3g network...

With T-mo, I have to wait until phone manufacturer's make phones which will support T-Mo's upcoming nonstandard 3G frequencies :(

I have a Cingular 8125 and am having trouble connecting. I went to Settings - Connections Tab - Connections - Manage Existing Connections - Then Select the Proxy Settings Tab
Uncheck "This network uses a proxy server to connect to the Internet".  but I still do not have a connection. Anyone have any ideas for me. Thank you, Jeff

Actually, I just fixed my problem if anyone has this issue after fixing the proxy settings just do a soft reset.

I have been using the SlingMobile with my 3125 on an Edge connection and I have been getting excellent results. Here are the settings I suggest you use to get great results:

1. Video bit rate: 50kbps (experiment with 50-150 kbps settings.) The lower you go, the more it'll compress images, but it'll be more consistent with frame rate.
2. Frame rate: 6fps
3. Set audio to: Mono Low.
