Someone will need to have the software on the same network as the Slingbox to set it up. I'd also recommend he update the firmware on the box which needs to be done from a machine on the same network (vs you who are remote).

Once it is setup, he'd provide you with the registration info so you can connect to the SlingMedia site to download the software, install it and point to your SlingBox.
