Well, Bootcamp is a full XP install, so you should be able to run anything that runs on XP. It is not an emulator, but a boot partition with the actual Windows OS.
Having said that, I don't have it myself, but it should work great.

I can't find any mention of this on these boards, but what does "Boot Camp" do for slinging on a Mac? If I bought a MacBook Pro, installed "Boot Camp", and then the slingplayer, can I watch my shows?
Bootcamp is just a program that lets you install Windows on a mac. You would still need a windows XP cd and install it on the Macbook pro. Then you would boot into windows instead of OSX and you would be able to run any windows program.

That's correct...I should have been more precise in my response, you will need a full copy of XP to install, but then you can do anything that XP will do.
Right, you need an XP CD, the download from apple.com, an intel mac computer, but I know that the "boot camp" program is still in beta and some things aren't working (for instance the usb connector seems to be causing the blue screen of death for at least one person), so I was wondering if anyone had actually tried using the sling player on an intel mac at this point with "boot camp" to see if it worked.
Ahh. I see what you mean. Well, I haven't tried it, however, odds are that it will work, as most of the problems seem to be with drivers for proprietary apple versions of products. I don't think the slingbox uses any of these (maybe the graphics card if it has been causing any problems.) Im sure theyll get the kinks worked out by the time 10.5 comes out
Boot camp is GREAT. I had no problems with it. Check out SlingPlayer running on my Apple MacBook Pro. Works like a charm!!!
There we go. Now I just need to gather together my $2000 to get a MacBook Pro. I wonder if there is any change under the couch cushions. Thanks Brett and everyone!
does slingplayer work with virtual pc?

boundboy,
Yes, it does work in Virtual PC. A liitle sluggish on performance, but does work. I only have the Windows 2000 version of VPC and I can use it, though the native version on Windows XP is a lot better.
I have been having strange performance issues with my HP and Slingplayer, so I decided to try Boot Camp on my MBP. It installed great, the ATi video drivers function cleanly. I have noticed that the Slingplayer video is a bit choppy in comparison though. It works, which is great, but in side-by-side comparison I noticed that there are some anomalies which will slow my enthusiasm to purchase a Mac Mini Intel Core Duo host.
What I found is that the HP (fast 2.8Gz CPU, 1Gb RAM, 256Mb video RAM) versus the MBP duo core 2.0 Ghz, 1Gb RAM, 256Mb video RAM with ATI card, places the HP ahead on the performance and graphics quality.
The HP used the S-Video to my TV, the mbp used the DVI interface. The HP was able to run full screen cleanly with no window edges or menus in the way. It also ran Slingplayer off the DVR for about 3 hours, with only two speed degradations that slowed the Kps to 70.
The MBP booted to Windows could not handle the widescreen mode on either the MBP or the TV. The video was blocky (I could see the pixelization on the screen). And it lost the signal once, with a couple speed drops to 70 Kps.
Overall the video looked better on the HP than the MBP. I'm hoping that the beta will improve and the final product will have better graphics performance for Slingplayer.
Although a native OSX Slingplayer would be even nicer :)
My hope is to have only the MBP or MacMini to use at the second home rather than carry two portables each visit.
In summary, it's workable, but the graphics aren't as good right now.
