Yes same problem here. Mcafee gives me more grief than you can imagine, unless of course you are another Microsoft/Mcafee sucker. Spent two hours online chat with the Mcafee guy, he said that it was because I didn't uninstall Mcafee properly, of course thyat happens automatically, but anyway we went through the registry editor and deleted all of the Mcafee items in their places, and re-installed the full package again. He assured me this was the problem... it is the same result, the Slingplayer.exe has full access and it tries connecting but no result. IT STILL DOES NOT CONNECT!!
I will do what I did before, A System Restore and hope it will be resolved here, I have grown to despise Mcafee and Microsoft for thgeir shite applications and hours upon hours of wasted time fixing my PC.
Anybody else have any ideas? I hope the guys over at SlingMedia can help?

I just installed the new version of McAfee Security Center and my Sling no longer works. It is enabled in the firewall settings. Anyone else tried this yet?
TIA
Sorry just wanted to re-add to the post so I could get the email notification below.
Just to add the warning is 0x9234006D, before this pops up the error notice: Slingplayer is having difficulty connecting to Slingbox "my Slingbox name" This may happen because of the network settings or Remote viewing is disabled on this Slingbox.
It was reported in another thread that it is the Privacy/SpamKiller program that is causing the problem with the New McAfee Security Center release. Uninstalling the Security Center and then reinstalling without the Privacy/Spamkiller program should get your Slingbox working again. It worked on my computer.
KeithS's solution is correct. I figured this same thing out after Slingmedia Tech Support could not. I uninstalled Security Center and it worked, then I reinstalled each app independently until Slingplayer stopped working (you have to stop the stream and try to restart it again to test). However as I went through each combo I was at first able to Sling with the firewall installed but now I am not, but it definately won't run in the Privacy Center or the Spam Killer is installed. At least I can Sling with the Virus scan loaded. I am using the windows XP firewall for now...
If anybody can get SlingMedia or McAfee to address this problem please post in this thread.
I posted this response on another forum related to error message "0x9234006D" I received trying to connect to my Slingbox.
I finally got my laptop to connect to my SLINGBOX, both in direct ethernet & wireless connection. It took me several trials and errors, reviewing history logs and tracking release updates of system updates as well as updates of applications such McAfee's updates. I noticed that my problem began after the last update of McAfee. I began disabling each component of McAfee Security System one at a time and attempted to connect to Slingbox after disabling the component. Each attempt failed. I finally removed all instances/trace (registry & temp area) of McAfee Security System from my laptop. After the reboot, I was able to connect to my Slingbox, no more dreaded appearance of ERROR: 0x9234006D.
P.S. I've decided to use Norton Security System in place of McAfee that came installed with my laptop. My reason, I've had to de-install McAfee with it's updates for the second time. It caused my error again and disappeared once McAfee was remove totally from my laptop. I've had no problem with Norton.
After an entire wasted day and much uninstalling and installing as recommended by the not so knowledgable McAfee support team, i found the following fix for the slingbox problem. With this fix, I am able to continue running spamkiller and privacy service and do not need to disable the Mcafee redirector.
Since this was a solution posted a long time ago for a previous version of mcafee you would think their support staff would have a checklist that identifies the issue and fix.
Add the following to the registry (or whatever port # your slingbox is using)
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\McAfee\Redirector\Ports]
"5001"="Ignore"
Stop the McAfee redirector service and restart it
As soon as I did I connected no problem - with the full McAfee suite running.
Wow! I just spent 2 hours going through the same thing. Have actually been trying to figure this out for days now! I really wish I'd checked these forums first. I removed the McAfee Privacy/Spam portion and wouldnt ya know, it works perfectly!
Can't thank you enough for ending my frustration!!!! You all are awesome! Thank you
I ran into the same thing using Kaspersky Internet Security.
They have a feature under Settings/Service/Network settings that monitors ports. If you use one of the ports like 80 or 443 Standard ports it will block it. It has an option to monitor all ports also, So if you are using 5001 and have the check mark under monitor all ports you will need to go in and remove the check mark on 5001. The same would be true for 443 in that you need to uncheck it. Then it works fine. Thought I would throw this in here since it's a simlar problem and may be noticed.
Mods feel free to move this if you think it should be...
