Anyone selected would have to kill you after telling you....

Slinging Tivo Series 2, Tivo HD, and TW cable from a Pro. Slinging Tivo HD from a Solo, Slinging Humax DRT800, and TW cable from a Classic to Sprint Mogul, AT&T SX66, N62, 8525, and Dell Inspiron 8600 with Sprint EVDO over Windstream DSL.

I can tell you I wasn't picked. Some stupid rule that you have to already have a Mac. Sheez! I thought they gave you one when you signed up for the Beta. Hope they are giving out Zunes when the time comes to Beta them. Surprised

I guess we're not "special" enough...Laughing

I wonder what it takes to be "special" enough to be a Mac beta tester.

I apparently didn't get chosen either, and I think I'd be a perfect tester. Here's why:

I am a longtime Macintosh user, and have both PowerPC and Intel Macs in my home;

I am located in Japan, while my Sling setup is in the States, which would allow me to give the Mac player a truly long-distance test;

I actually OWN a Slingbox, which I bought shortly after it was announced (way back in January) that a Mac player would be released in Q2. (Which is also why I've been a member of this community since January 2006.)

(And yes, I did sign up to be a beta tester.)

If that isn't "special" enough, I wonder what it took to be chosen as a beta tester.

Who knows, maybe they just wanted the first test to be LAN only stuff. Ya, never know...

Would be interesting to hear from Sling on what they were looking for in Beta.  Clearly they have plenty of people to choose from which is great, and it is obviously a combination of things that sorts you to the top of the pile.  Just being an active Sling user and having multiple Mac platforms wasn't enough by itself.  Like you I have both PPC and Intel Macs - have been using Macs for over 12 years - but also use WIN XP daily (thank goodness from a Sling perspective) and the Mobile client on my XV6700.

From here, I just hope they move this VERY quickly to a public beta, so the Slingbox I bought for my brother months ago  (Mac only family) can finally be used.

Are we just suppose to except that it is ok for companies to announce product release dates and then delay the release for months?  I bought a slingbox back in March. when they announced at Macworld they would offer mac support.  "The company says it should arrive sometime in the spring".

I wouldn't say its OK but somewhat acceptable.  First off, Sling Media is a new and small company.  Lastly, it WAS a hard task to make a Mac app considering that it uses Windows Media.

What IS unacceptable is that they made an estimate, period.  They obviously knew what major stuff needed to be done, so to quote a time like that was just unreasonable.

Slingbox+Mac=Heaven anywhere!

Yeah, but they got a lot of us Mac users to be suckers and buy the $lingbox on the false promise that a Mac player would be released in Q2.
