At times, my Sling player does not respond to any remote functions, i.e., channel changes, menu display, etc.  I get audio and video OK, but I can't change anything. Happens with either LAN or WAN.  I'll activate player later, and problems doesn't exit --  everything is fine.  Anybody else have or had this problem?  If so, what did you do to fix?

Next time it doesn't work use a camera phone and see if the IR blaster is flashing when you send commands.  If it is flashing, try repositioning the blaster a little bit...  If it's not flashing, check the connection and the wire..

Next time it acts up I'll check the IR emitters to see if they are flashing red.  I tend to believe the emitters are positioned correctly, or else they would not be working at all.  Could be something unique to the DVR (Moxi BMC), rather than the Slingbox, that is preventing remote functions at times.  Was hoping someone else had experienced a similar type problem and had already done some troubleshooting.

I've never seen it but I've heard other people talk about glare and reflection causing the IR to "bounce back".. Someone said something recently about the front panel on the new Tivo S3 doing that..

This is the closest thread I could find.

I got one a few weeks back, and can't see to get the remote to work at all. Network LAN & WAN tests are good.

I have a Phillips Tivo 1 and no matter the remote choices or speeds, I can't get the Sling Box to even blink the Tivo Green/Amber “IR activity” light

My Tivo Remote works fine.

Even read the directions on http://www.slingcommunity.com/article/10011/Installing-Your-Slingbox/?page=2 on Page 2, nothing.

So what is the cure for no IR at all?

I had a similar problem after moving my SlingBoxAV from one room to another. It streamed just fine, but wouldn't transmit remote signals. All I did was unplug the IR blaster and plug it back in. Works fine now.

I have tried most of the obvious, reset, reboot, plug depth.

Couldn’t pull off the camera phone looking for IR activity trick…mouse is too far away from the IR cord.

On the LAN I can turn off the TV and watch quite well using the tivo/tivo remote.
