I really don't understand why some of the comments on the Sling website tell us that

From what I've been able to gather, they wanted another week or so of testing the 1.4 build with the Classic Slingboxes before they officially endorsed it. Personally, I've been using the 1.4 build with the original Slingbox for a few weeks and really haven't had many problems.
This is more of a precautionary move, and I would imagine you'll see a slightly newer 1.4 build soon that may have a few tweaks and optimizations for the original Slingbox. Or, they'll discover the current 1.4.0.195 build meets their quality expectations, and they'll recommend it for all Slingbox owners.

Does 1.4 Slingbox upgrade work with the older SlingPlayer software (i.e. pre-encryption)? I am using the At-Large Recorder with the older SlingPlayer and newer SlingBox software.
I am hesitant to upgrade if I lose the ability to record.

Does the 1.4 software have any major advances for "classic" slingboxes, i.e. have they managed to increase the quality/bitrate further at all?
Matt,
I have SLINGPLAYER 1.3.0.176 installed. If I click 'check for updates' it says I need to update.
I click the link to the update page, but it only shows SLINGPLAYER 1.3.0.176, which is what I already have. Am I missing something? I have the Classic slingbox if it makes a difference.
Thanks
