Is this possible without having to reconfigure the player everytime I want to view?

I have successfully hooked up my SB to coaxial and to my VCR individually, but I would like to be able to hook them up both at once and be able to switch back and forth remotely without having to reconfigure.  Is that possible?

I don't see why not. I've got either 2 or 3 inputs always connected to each of my (3) slingboxes.

With both connected, simply use the drop down menu Slingbox -> Video Input -> and select the input you want to watch.

If you connect both the s-video and composite video inputs to a Slingbox classic, then you have to share the one set of audio inputs - so one of the devices needs to be off while watching the other one, so you don't have both audio streams simultaneously.  That is not a problem with the coax input.

Thanks Carl.

I didn't realize that I could change input while connected to a particular slingbox.  I thought that was only done through configuration.  This brings me to multiple remote configurations.

It looks like I can configure various remotes too.  I'll experiment with that.

You can define a unique remote for each of the inputs. When you select that input, the applicable remote is shown.  If you need to go beyond that (more than one remote for an input) then you have to do reconfiguration, which is a pain.

There have been several requests for Sling to provide the ability to define multiple remotes for a given input, and be able to switch between them. So far they have not provided that capability. I do not know if they have plans to do so in the future or not, but it would be nice if they did.

Thanks Carl,

You saved me a lot of experimentation time.  Yes it would be nice to have multiple remotes (or how about this - a configurable universal remote - seems it might be easier to implement - only one user interface).

On that note... in case this is of use to anyone else:

I thought I'd point out that the IR on my VCR is very picky.  The IR blasters that came with my SB would not work.

I've had considerable experience with various IR emitters/blasters.  Personally I've found that the focused emitters (the ones that stick to your device) tend to work a little better than the blasters unless your device is in a closed cabinet.

Fortunately I had another set of blasters that worked with my SB and VCR.  The plug on my blasters were 1/8" compared to the 3/32" provided with the SB, but a Radios Shack adapter worked even though the Radio Shack adapter was for a stereo (three wire) and my blaster two wire.
