Airport Extreme/Express doesn't support UPnP (Universal Plug and Play).  You'll need to configure it manually.  Just go through the prompts on the sling wizard, it will say you need to open ports 5001 on the router.  Just go through that and say you did, and click ok.

You'll then need to log into your Airport Extreme (NOT express) and go to the Port Mapping Tab.  Add a Port, and for the Private and Public Port, add the number 5001.  Then if you look at your Slingbox wizard, it will show you the IP address of the Slingbox.  It's probably 192.168.1.237.  Just add that IP address to the Port Mapping option.  Click Apply and restart your Extreme.  You should be all set.

Thank you ajmac...it worked perfectly (but only after I corrected the IP address which was improperly set in the port mapping window as 10.0.1.201 2hich was out of the range of what the Extreme could assign. I set it to the proper 10.0.1.5 and everything is working great with the remote access)...thanks again!

Alvin, perhaps you could help me as well.  I don't understand how you can set the IP address in the port mapping window to something like 192.1268.1.237 when it only accepts the following:  10.0.1.xxx?

thx

hi wzrdjr,

Mine is 192.168.1.237 because I sent my Airport Extreme to distribute 192.168.1.x address.  If you go to your Network Tab in your Airport Extreme, you'll see what IP Addresses are being distributed.  You're probably distributing 10.0.1x address.

I just said 192.168.1.237 because that was my example.  Everyone's IP Address will be different.  If you got both red lights on your Slingbox, you should be all set and connected.  If you want to find out your IP Address, open up your SlingPlayer, and hopefully you're getting TV streaming.  On the top menu, click on Slingbox/Slingbox Directory.  Then click on Edit Info.  Go to the Information Tab, and let the info populate.  If you scroll down you'll see the IP Address.

Log into your Airport Extreme and add that IP address to the Port Mapping with 5001 as your Public and Private Port.

Hope that helps,
Alvin
